AQ PILOT said:yeah, i'd agree with islandhopper. at this stage in the game ya really need a letter of rec from someone in the airline.
i don't agree in that you absolutely have to have flown with whomever you know, but that is a big plus. latest rumors i have heard are something to the effect of needing two letters of rec, but then again, i know of a few guys who went to island air and straight thru to aloha in three or four months knowing no one....
good luck either way though. its a pretty good place to be! the food is weird, the women are all taken, real estate is high, and if ya don't already like it get ready for a major lifestyle change. you're not late, you're on hawaiian time.....
MiniMeGotWings said:just answer honestly...if you say you wouldn't leave island air to go to aloha, they would probably think you insane (as well as a big fat liar). just tell them how excited you are for the chance to fly for island air.

Let's say I applied and went to the interview at Island Air, what is the anwser to moving on, I am sure they ask if you would leave or try to go to Hawaiian or Aloha?? Right?

Dunkerley told one of our pilots that if whoever is made the trustee follows the current game plan, all furloughs should be back by June 2004. Hope it's true, with the extended unemployment benefits I'm good to April 2004. A little substitue teaching to stretch the unemployment and I'll make it to June.
I'm currently trying to decide if I can afford to try and fly for CHQ or one of the other regionals that are hiring. (As a back-up in case HAL does tank - I need to start building that seniority.) Unemployment pays more!

I am at Comair actually, I spent most of my life growing up in Guam, learned to fly there and got my first job there in a cherokee Six flying between Tinian and Saipan, then later in the sweetest machine(SD3-60).
I thought I would go to the mainland and get some flying in, well i have had enough, I have always had enough, I have been trying HAL for along time and sent a resume to AQ years ago. I am upgrading in the RJ, then I want to do anything to live back in the islands, and Island Air is my avenue to get there.
So, that's why I would leave Comair for Island Air.
Well the real answer is Wahine, Good waves, and spam musubi. And Guava man, you can't get Guava on the east coast.
I like walking into ABC store and buying spam musubi and a can ice coffee wearing nothing but board shorts and slippas.
ps. I knew there wasn't any flow through, thanks!![]()
