Does Freedom have a policy as to how far they are required to steer clear of thunderstorms? For example, we are required to not operate within 20 NM of a storm.

My point being, why were they close enough to even get hit by lightening? Especially on departure? Why did they even take off?

That is what I have been thinking this whole thread... "We need 20 right for weather."...done...
Thats why its required to have a working radar onboard when u carry peeps... I would say if anything is certain, they need to learn how to use it.

Look getting hit by lightening isn't the issue here. All of us have had to fly around and between cells. We try to keep it 20 miles, but realistically In the real world of flying we get closer then that. You use the radar scan the area, tilt it up and see how high the tops are and make decissions on how your gonna handle it.

The problem isn't the lightening strike, its the fact that the window cracked and smoke started in the cabin. With all that they didn't wanna declare an emergency and return immediately to the field. Thats the problem I have with it.

I never thought I would say this, but CVG is probably one of the most dangerous airports to fly out of anymore. Between having a bunch of inexperienced flight crews flying for Freedom and having a bunch of run down and ticked off Comair pilots, I think many people are going to rethink paying for the most expensive tickets at the cost of their lives out of CVG. C'mon guys WAKE UP! You are professionals.

Wait! When you talk about professionals are you talking about your "professional" friends at Pinnacle (remember), Comair crash, RAH off the RWY, Colgan just the other day, etc.

What record? That premise is foolish. You have to look at total incidents and and not just fatal accidents. Remember your crew members who BOTH fell asleep while operating a flight? I can keep going if you want. The list over the last 5 years is long enough. I'll tell you what though...if you guys keep up the unprofessional BS, you will have an accident. Mesa is a bottom feeder. They hire the scum of the industry. What exactly is that? It's the pilots that either got fired from other carriers, or applicants that failed to get a job at a decent place, and Mesa hired them. This is the foundation of the Mesa/Freedumb pilot group.
Let me put it to you this way, most furloughed pilots in the industry, wouldn't even consider Mesa for a job. That has to tell you something about a place as crappy as that.

Maybe you should take a good look in the mirror. Mesa and Freedumb are bad bad places. They are everything a good, decent, and respectable regional airline carrier should not be.

I think you are going too far with those statements. I'm sure there are many fine pilots at Mesa. You really shouldn't generalize that much. I've met some Mesa pilots that are fine people and fine pilots.
