Just so everyone knows: The Mesa pilots defending them is wrong again. If ATC has to declare the Emergency for you....gimme a break. That crew did not act quickly enough. It sounds to me like they were doing everything in their power not to declare an emergency. Not safe at all and has no business in the 121 world. Lightning strike, spiderweb windshield, smoke in the cockpit? No Emergency?!? Are you guys that clueless??? Friends don't let friends and loved one's fly on Mesa/Freedumb......Accident waiting to happen.

Geez, who do so many pilots think that declaring an emergency is either humiliating, makes one less of a Captain/Pilot, shows inexperience or embarassing. ???? There are't any "score cards" that deduct points from a Captain when an emergency is declared.

There is no harm in declaring an emergency when in doubt...and it sounded like they were in doubt. And one can always un-declare an emergency too if the situation warrants. It's no big deal...

I just talked to the FO today... in their defense they had to run a few checklist and asses the situation. It wasnt as big of a mess you all are making it seem. they landed the plane safely and switched planes and carried on with the flight.

Running a checklist? YGTBFSM..... Lightning strike, shattered window, smoke (actual or smell), you'll find me, and every other professional putting it on the ground and worrying about the checklist later.

Exactly. I'd much rather explain why I pulled the E-trigger and landed, rather than the other scenario, like this one. I, and many other pilots, can turn the plane AND run checklists at the same time. What about CRM? CA manages the emergency and the FO flies? I think I ready that in a book or something.

Something about those not learning from history, etc, etc. I think I already mentioned the Swissair 111 accident, but the PC of this next one pointed the finger at the CA for not being proactive enough.

I just think back to the great job that Compass crew did a few months ago after the FA got miffed for having to go to work. Didn't they go from FL310 to the ground in 6-7 minutes or something?

What record? That premise is foolish. You have to look at total incidents and and not just fatal accidents. Remember your crew members who BOTH fell asleep while operating a flight? I can keep going if you want. The list over the last 5 years is long enough. I'll tell you what though...if you guys keep up the unprofessional BS, you will have an accident. Mesa is a bottom feeder. They hire the scum of the industry. What exactly is that? It's the pilots that either got fired from other carriers, or applicants that failed to get a job at a decent place, and Mesa hired them. This is the foundation of the Mesa/Freedumb pilot group.
Let me put it to you this way, most furloughed pilots in the industry, wouldn't even consider Mesa for a job. That has to tell you something about a place as crappy as that.

Maybe you should take a good look in the mirror. Mesa and Freedumb are bad bad places. They are everything a good, decent, and respectable regional airline carrier should not be.

I never thought I would say this, but CVG is probably one of the most dangerous airports to fly out of anymore. Between having a bunch of inexperienced flight crews flying for Freedom and having a bunch of run down and ticked off Comair pilots, I think many people are going to rethink paying for the most expensive tickets at the cost of their lives out of CVG. C'mon guys WAKE UP! You are professionals.

Pinnacle, Skywest, and Republic all have the same DOH year as Freedom with the most junior captain. I would say that you better be careful at any airport with your criteria of inexperience.

Those two girls are the most lucky Mesa pilots out there. Stalling an airplane right above the runway? You can't fix stupid.
There is a reason you are at Mesa, and it isn't because you're a good pilot. It's because you paid for MAPD, and they're more than willing to hire a warm body.
