Does Freedom have a policy as to how far they are required to steer clear of thunderstorms? For example, we are required to not operate within 20 NM of a storm.

My point being, why were they close enough to even get hit by lightening? Especially on departure? Why did they even take off?

That is what I have been thinking this whole thread... "We need 20 right for weather."...done...
Thats why its required to have a working radar onboard when u carry peeps... I would say if anything is certain, they need to learn how to use it.
 
You don't have to be in a Thunderstorm to get hit by lightening.

True, but I've never seen a 20 NM lightening bolt.

So what is Freedom's policy?
