Thats the way its been done at Mesaba since 1944. When you kids have been an airline for that long come talk to me. BTW once you get a chance to fly somewhere other than ATL you will notice that many airlines do not have shirt wings. You probably wear at T Shirt with an airplane on it at the Quality Inn pool so that everywhere you go people know you're a pilot.

Who in the PAX industry doesn't have wings on their shirts? Can you name a major who doesn't?

NWA never did either. They had the sharpest uniforms in the industry until they were forced to go double breasted with lots of bling. :D

I bet some of you guys wore wings on your "flight instructor" uniform..

Plain white shirt at the hotel and people will assume you're there to assist with the luggage on occasion. This profession is still strongly tied to the military and we like our wings.

No, We wear hats and wings because of Jaun Trippe not the military. Our uniform originates from maritime roots. Trippe wanted to his Flying Clippers to be on par with the great ocean liners of the time. Hence why the PIC is a "captain". Maritime captains wear their hats indoors or whenever in eye of the public. Like most airline pilots did once upon a time. The military takes the lid off when indoors.

Only under certain circumstances, not always......

This is hilarious. Glad I started this one, and it was a drunk post too!
Have to admit however, if Southwest doesn't wear them, then it is "surely" OK!

But for god's sake please, at least get rid of the backpacks. Spikey hair, backpacks.. what's next, skateboards? Kids, get real!
At least look like you know which buttons to press.

What about old Irish-dude combovers, laddy?

And back in the days of the clippers landing on the river Shannon in Ireland, even the stewards were dressed in double breasted uniform with white caps, getting the recognition and respect deserved of a crewmember looking after the passenger's safety. Giving immaculate service was the frontline and obvious part of the airline experience. How we have changed!

A uniform should be complete and worn with pride. We are losing sight of this and some "mickey mouse" carriers should take note.

Long live the pilot hat!......and so on....

Night night.
