When was this guy at Riddle? I vaguely remember someone of his description trying to do a checkout at another flight school in DAB (would be early/mid 90's) in a Bellanca Viking. Could be wrong, though. It was almost 20 years ago now....

I took my instrument checkride at Riddle w/ him in 98. We were taxiing out and I noticed he was feverishly writing something. During my takeoff roll, he reached over and put what he was drawing over my heading indicator. It was a "sketch" of yours truly's face. What a db.

I'll always remember him screaming.. "What are you doing mon?? You're SCARING me MON!"

Glad to see karma's caught up. Couldn't have happened to a nicer db.

I remember him doing instructor checkouts when I got hired at ERAU. He was yelling so bad at my flight partner (while I was sitting in the back) that I went to the chief pilot (KD, for those who remember) and told him what was up.

Funny, upbeat guy until you got into a flight deck.....

He was recently hired flying E190's overseas...and getting paid 2-3 times more than the majority of the posters on this thread.

Said person came to the USA under UN refugee status. Most of his issues were not operational, but cultural. Cockpit conflicts had a lot to do with cultural issues, (especially with female FOs); the other of English not being his first language. The LAX incident is representative of this.

The DEN incident is one we fear the most. Overconfident Captain with a non-assertive FO. They/we are fortunate they didn't kill everyone on board. Good call on the confrontation by the F9 crew.

I have spoken with him several times. A really nice guy, overall. Not worthy of the 6th grade playground banter posted here. My hope is that he has learned from these incidents and is a better pilot.

I flew with him quite a bit when he was FO. You're right...he was a nice guy. I actually enjoyed drinking beer with him away from work. But as far as flying, I could see why he'd be a terror as a Captain. It was easy to keep him in check when he was in the right seat but I would be hesitant to put him in charge. He didn't have a whole lot of tact when dealing with FAs and I could only imagine how he would treat the FOs.... Maybe it is a cultural thing, but if you are going to treat people like that, you better have some skill to fall back on.

He didn't get fired because he was a nice guy-he was a train wreck with zero flying skills.But making three times as much overseas makes this ok because ??? What exactly ?
