Dont' know if this was posted already. Should be pretty accurate info........

Those columns are averages (I think) of different types of flight hours per class.

disclaimer: Below isn't my data. Someone else posted it on our ALPA forum

Hiring Statistics for first four UAL New Hire Classes:

Class Date, Total Pilots, Airline Hours, Military Hours, Other(Part 91, 61…), TOTAL
9/24/2007 ......18 .............6044 ...........1875 .................1844 ............7322
10/15/2007 ....15 .............5941 ............3500 .................1355 ...........7167
10/29/2007 ....13 .............5792 ............2350 .................1875 ...........7629
11/12/2007 ....15 .............7300 ............3400 .................1810 ...........7893

We’re still not hiring to match retirements; at the current rate of retirements we will be deficit 200 pilots in headcount January 2007 to January 2008. It will be interesting to see how the numbers play out for 2008 because TK has not spooled up in any dramatic fashion, there are still vacancy bids to fill, and class sizes will be limited for new hires to that which can be matched against a transition Captain.

Shista! The new classes have more hours than I have. ... of course, I haven't turned a wheel since 2002 - since recall, I remain on mil leave in a staff job.

During the last two weeks ive had to sit on the jumpseat on ual. Both crews told me that they have heard through the training department that ua is planning on hiring around 600 next year. this is suppose to support the international growth which is planned. is there any truth to this? can some ua pilots shed some light please?

Heard anywhere from 300-500 but most recently 300-400. Not sure what the block hour plan is for next summer but with the usage rates on all fleets right now, I can't see how they could create more block hours with the current fleet. I'd guess that the hiring isn't specifically for increased block hours as much as it is to try to just catch up to where we should be right now. That and for attrition due to retirements and medical outs. Even after the hiring, we'll still be short.

They told us in our training class the 300 for 08 was just for the first 6 months....no reason to not believe the 600....they were just talking about the near future.

thought continental was the new united. last year at a conferance they raffled off new hire class dates......you guessed it, at a women in aviation gathering........I think two wrongs make a right......

I just found out UAL hired a female pilot who has an extensive background of numerous sexual harassment claims as well as failed checkrides and term warnings. Either they're not doing their homework or the company she came from withheld key background info to get rid of her.

XJT?? are you talking about her?

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't PRIA only allow certain information to be disclosed by the previous employer, and it doesn't include your personel file just training records and drug and alchohol records? and lenth of employment?
