It is one thing that a manager is working against the pilots to get the union out, which is understandably part of their job.

It is totally another when a line pilot is going above and beyond to work against a contract in which he will benefit:confused:

He is probably hoping for a management position since he meets one of the main qualifications. Living in Chardon which is just a 20 minute drive from CGF.

He better not leave his food unattended if I were to ever fly with someone like him. Yeah, you can use your imagination.

NICE! Real Professional:erm:

While I do not support his opinion, behavior like that is unacceptable. Not to mention criminal.

400A, considering how much is at stake for the Options pilots their anger is entirely justified and their "blowing off steam" verbal responses are quite understandable. The real culprit here is Marker and his unprofessional behavior in ignoring the leadership channels in place for pilots to voice concerns or ask questions in a way that doesn't interfere with on-going negotiations. Effective Unions speak with one voice and uninformed, unprofessional gestures elicit the condemnation they deserve. The angered Options pilots voted for MEC leaders to speak for them. They didn't vote for David Marker and his one-man Chicken Little act.

That is not blowing off steam. That is disgusting behavior. It is not blowing off steam, and do not tell me it does not happen. I had multiple family members strike at Eastern, and I even walked the line with them. My support for them and the Flight Options pilots will never make that behavior acceptable. I know it happens. I have stood in groups of Eastern pilots and heard them brag about taking a crap in a SCABS flight bag. THAT IS NOT OK.....EVER!!!!!!!!!

Agree. But it is funny as "crap"

400A, I highlighted the word "verbal" deliberately. Many people say things in anger that they would not follow through on when their temper has cooled and their better judgment prevails.

I have no problem taking your word for it that disgusting, unprofessional acts have taken place in the past, but I think it's hasty to judge and condemn your fellow pilots at this point. You are incorrectly using the term "behavior". That applies to actions--not speech. Right now the only one guilty of disgusting behavior is Marker. His fellow pilots are just expressing their thoughts on his despicable action. If they were to cross the line and actually perform a foul deed then I'd be in agreement with you. However, at this moment the distinction between talking and acting is too critical to be overlooked. NJW

Oh..... I get it, the kids at Columbine just talked about killing everyone at school. No need to worry.

How many actual strikes have you been a part of so that you can decide that it is just talk. You are in a dreamland. The Eastern Strike was almost 19 years ago and there are still people acting out just like he said. And they brag about it just like his statement. I will never buy your He is just venting garbage.

400, there is a huge difference in threatening murder compared to contemplating acts that would be categorized as mischief. Let's leave the Columbine tragedy, respectfully, where it belongs.

Attending a strike isn't a requirement to comment on basic human nature. Reality is, many, many people say things, especially when they're angry, that they would never do. Just because a few jerks out there actually did something immature does not mean that every disgusted pilot will. That said, a cautionary stance can be a good thing if it doesn't turn prejudicial.

I think the Options pilots are smart enough to take a calm, respectful hint that such actions would be inappropriate and counter-productive to their cause. I also trust the 1108 leaders to handle the episode effectively and diplomatically. They are monitoring the situation.
