My opinion is that there will be some recalls in 2010. They are well staffed for what they have now(lean) but I think even a slight increase in business will mean recalls. Plus, even in bad times people change jobs and hopefully some of the geriatrics will leave.

Hope you're right, it would be great to see some guys come back. I have heard rumors going the other direction however. Guess it all depends on how their numbers look in a couple months.

Is there any truth to the rumors of the company trying to force out some of the older, higher paid captains through mx paperwork issues and/or training events?

No, but they are doing that to the under 40 highly paid captains. They are putting laxatives and Blood Pressure regulators in the "geriatic" captains catering in hopes they will embarris themselves on a trip or pass out and then retire for obvious reasons...you can take this info to the bank 'cause after-all, its posted right here.

embarris ?

No, but with a lot of the stupidity that has been taking place regarding mx paperwork and doing just flat out dumb arse things, the company is no longer turning the other cheek regarding it.

In regards to training, they have always followed the letter of the law and expect, due to the brain child at Colgan, that to continue. I fully expect the FAA to make things even tougher in regards to pilots being marginal and passing check rides.

No. Some older/higher paid captains are forcing themselves out via gross incompetence during training events.

It is great to see, but it is the busy season. The real indicator will be in April/May when we start to slow down for the season. Here's to recalls this year. We have to many great folks on the streets.

lots of flying lately, and LOTS of charters

It'll be great when folks stop requesting OT. How is it that a lot of our captains NEED it, and some how the Fo's are doing just fine without it... hummm..
