From AIN:
Flexjet Takes Delivery of Its First Gulfstreams
by Chad Trautvetter
- June 23, 2015, 11:16 AM

Gulfstream Aerospace today delivered the first two Gulfstream G450LXi models to Dallas-based Flexjet during a delivery ceremony at Gulfstream's Savannah, Ga. headquarters, marking the first non-Bombardier aircraft to enter the fractional provider's fleet. These deliveries are part of Flexjet's firm order for 22 Gulfstreams - 10 G450LXis, six G650LXis and six G500LXis - and options for 28 more that it placed in October during the launch event for the G500 and G600.

"When we placed this order with Gulfstream, we wanted to make sure we would be able to offer these new aircraft to our owners in a timely manner," said Flexjet chairman Kenn Ricci. "The delivery of our first Gulfstream aircraft fulfills this commitment and commences a period in which we will be the only fractional provider adding new Gulfstreams to our fleet, making them available on an exclusive basis." Flexjet's first G650LXi is expected to enter service early next year, followed by the G500LXi in 2018.

The LXi-series Gulfstreams, exclusive to Flexjet, are outfitted with customized interiors that include "unique touches and aesthetic themes" with a high level of "artisanal craftsmanship." One of the fractional provider's new G450LXi models will be publicly unveiled at the NBAA Regional Forum at Teterboro Airport on Thursday.

Sounds like flex went skinny and nja went wide. Wonder which owners prefer on 7 hour trips?

The one that actually gets them there....:D

But all is not lost. As you all know, there is a new (old?) Sherriff in town. I'm guessing NJA will have skinny AND wide for some time yet.

Truer words have never been spoken! Things are getting much better, but at least till now, Sokol is looking like a genius. However, from here on, any new 650's should be pretty reliable, and the early serial numbers are quickly being brought up to that standard. Just be happy you missed the pain.

I don't expect nearly as many growing pains with the 500/600.

Who gets to fly the new G450s - Flex or Flops pilots?

Kenn Ricci is doing away with seniority and making pilots interview, and hand-picking the pilots chosen for the G450's (and all other new aircraft). Pilots from either Flex or Options can apply. He is placing all the new aircraft under the Flexjet banner as an attempt to but the union at Options. He is getting away with it for now, but the days without a union at Flex or a combined pilot group are numbered, and this no-seniority/interview for a seat BS will end soon afterwards.

Only Selected Flex and Options pilots will fly them.
