The stock price has nothing to do with a company's credit rating! DAL is in big trouble, and some of the analysts are starting to see it! It really doesn't matter what your cash reserves are when you are burning through them way too fast!

-RA and Steenland will screw you up just as badly as United and US Air are screwed! Where are all those "synergies" when you need them? Airline mergers NEVER result in good news for employees or stock holders... The only ones who make out well are the upper managers-just look at their compensation-you would think the stock was on a rocketship to mars based on what he is making!

I sold your mom last night for about the price of 1 share of DL stock. Does that make her credit rating a B-? She also burns through cash reserves really fast!

In all seriousness-there is a way to stop it... The board needs to oust RA and Steenland. That will be very difficult, since they stacked the board itself with their own cronies! It would realistically take massive stockholder activism.

It is a very unfortunate time for DAL, and for the industry in general. RA and Steenland are making the classic mistake of behaving like the proverbial "800 lb gorilla." These guys are doing mean and nasty things to their employees, the stockholders, and wrecking the company in general..

Other airlines have gone down the "800lb gorilla" path before... How are they doing now? Decent mgmt at DAL would recognize that they have a serious flight ahead.. They need to keep every passenger and every employee happy as much as possible. When ALGT and SWA roll into town, they sure will wish they had.

I am not happy about what is going on-but RA and Steenland are doing no favors by running things in such an adversarial manner. It is only a matter of time before people have more choices in the ATL, and pissing them off now is not going to do DAL any good in the future.

-If you doubt this position, just ask any passenger who has suffered the misfortune of being stuck on a steaming SAAB in ATL this summer-they will back me up!
Actually, Delta has been very nice to their employees. The Company has done the right things to maintain morale in a very tough business environment.

The board showed Whitehurst and anyone who supported the "go it alone" strategy the door. Thus far I believe the consensus on Anderson is overwhelmingly positive. That's a stark contrast to the feelings about Tilton, Doug Parker, Gerard Arpey and even Larry Kellner.

I liked Whitehurst. He said what I wanted to hear about growth and remaining a stand alone airline. However, it would be tough to pay for those airplanes now and Northwest's cash is welcome.

CRJ567 - Candidly, if you think you are getting screwed, not paid enough and not respected, let me give you the humble advice that you need to find a new gig, either that, or see the green grass underneath your own two feet. Sure Delta made some of you guys mad with changes to pass benefits and other cuts to anciliary forms of compensation and QOL. Speaking from experience (as former semi-disgruntled regional airline pilot who pulled down nearly six figures while flying mid week back to back two days with nice overnights) it stinks to get something taken away from you. Still, consider what you got going compared to the silver haired FO flying the United jet across the ramp, or the guy commuting to a Douglas jet job with a couple of kids at home. This industry is a lottery... it is a terrible career. But, if you like flying and the lifestyle, there is no better home away from home. Find what you like and think "how lucky am I not to be working as a roofer this summer."

Don't try to explain things with reason and rational to crj567.
He's still looking for that Delta scapegoat "gang raped" his mom resulting in his birth!

Delta is going to be furloughing by the end of the year. That will probably coincide with their latest Ch11 filing. How much will DALPA give back this time? I bet the General will be making Mesa Capt money.

If you cannot post with intelligence then don't post at all....please!

What isn't intelligent about my post? Delta is all sorts of screwed up. You guys know that with the capacity cuts coming up and your bad bet on international travel that there will be some guys on the street soon. We all know that when they come asking for money, DALPA will roll over and give away the store. They know you guys. It doesn't take a crystal ball there Contrail.

Maybe they'll even go back to the tried and ture play book and restart Song!

Jeez crj567, we all know you like to play with yourself, but do you talk with yourself too? You really need help dude.
Don't you get tired of all this nonsense?
It doesn't matter whether or not Delta will furlough, it's still better pay than a coffee server/fax sender for some officer at an obscure air force base in the middle of nowhere. Now quick, sign back in as crj567 and say something even more stupid!

Hey Scope, do you have a flow back agreement with one of your RJ operators for this furlough?

Hey tanker/crj567, did you put the colonel to bed for the night?
Better be careful, he catches you on his computer after lights out, and you'll be demoted to toilet scrubber. But at least you'll feel closer to home!
