Do you guys believe everything you're told, or just the negative sh-t?

Unless you have been told BY a STL based pilot, then you can count on the fact that it's tainted rumor.

If you are referring to my post read it closer, I did talk to an STL based pilot. I asked for confirmation b/c it came from one guy (who was pretty upset by the way).

Wanna hear some other stuff that is 100% true? Sentient recently owed one of their pilots $6000.00 bucks in overtime pay. (yes I know him)

When they started firing people in St. Louis a few weeks ago, some Captains were told they couldn't stay even as an F/O because they would be "too disgruntled". But other Captains actually were allowed to stay as F/O's. Interesting...so the people doing the firing somehow know who will be disgruntled and who won't!

They didn't go about firing folks by seniority, and they sure didn't go by qualifications. There was no consistency whatsoever.

At least 3 pilots were fired, then called back in the next 24 hours and told "nevermind, you still have a job". Wow. That shows you how well they thought everything out ahead of time.

For the last year and a half, every meeting with the national chief pilot had him talking about how great things are going to be, we are going to bring up the pay to the 60th percent level of the NBAA and the Stanton survey, we are going to be on par with Netjets in terms of pay and quality of life...blah blah blah. Then when all the firings start, Mr. National Chief is nowhere to be found.

I witnessed all of this firsthand.

Yeah, they needed to get rid of some people, but the way they went about it was TOTALLY jacked up.

There's more, but I've already wasted 5 minutes of my life typing this that I ain't gonna get back.

Redbehren, don't bother replying to this, because I have no interest in getting into some stupid internet forum war with you. We all know you LOOOVE Sentient so much, they can do no wrong, blah blah blah. And it's obvious from reading your other posts that you work in the office somewhere and you aren't a company pilot even though you try to pose as one. Feel free to prove me wrong if you like, not that I'm going to reply to anything you say to me.

The only reason I've wasted my time typing this crap is so that pilots on here know what's going on, so that they can avoid ever applying there if Sentient decides to hire pilots again. Stay away.

Would a copy of a current 8410 suffice, your honor? I've been with one of the acquired companies for over 15 years and I've been suffering through lay-offs and mergers like this since before you were popping zits and beating off into your dirty gym sock.

So, if you're so tweaked out about this place, do everyone else a favor and BEAT IT. This company doesnt need losers like you and we've got work to do.
 
Sentient is really dicked up right now. I really hope they can get their act together.

The people in st louis were laid off as a normal course of business as a result of declining revenue and productivity - its happened plenty of other places. With your 4000tt, i susect you've not been around long enough to see it, but this isn't the first time its happened. They were offered positions elsewhere within the company (some took them).

Actually "bro", I really just want to know if you're still employed with the company or whether you were fired (or never worked there and got all of this as pure conjecture). Not that i expect you to commit career suicide by admitting you ARE an employee, but i figure that if you're half the "man" you make yourself out to be, you won't be able to resist.

Either way, thanks for playing; bitter people like you keep chat rooms alive and bring minutes of reading enjoyment.

Clearly you are not a pilot. Maybe you were at one point, but it is painfully obvious that you no longer pilot aircraft in a professional environment. While some companies will call you part of the crew because you are a dispatcher, I dod not subscribe to that line of thinking. Unless you are up there interperting the WX Radar with me when the fit hits the shan, I don't consider you part of the crew. This Staledog fella seems to be flying for a living, and from what it sounds like, he flew out of SUS for Jetdirect. Maybe he still does, maybe he never did at all who knows, but what i do know is that you are not a pilot, so please shut your a$$, and leave the rest of us alone. Please, just go away so we can have a discussion among professionals. Now, while you're getting this and packing you your shiiiiiiiiiiiiit, maybe I'll fire the 'ol 450 up (Actually, it's new) and make a run down to LA to help out the fine people of New Orleans. When I get back, I expect you to be gone or I am gonna tea bag and hot plate you, and believe me, the hot plate is warm.

It's like this. I know WHY pilots were laid off in KSUS, that's not the problem. The problem is the METHOD (or lack of) that was used. Go back a page or so and re-read my original post. I stand by everythig I said, and I know what I'm talking about.

By the way, NOT everyone was offered a position elsewhere, you're just dead wrong there.

And so if I admit to you that I work for the company, I guess you are going to "tell on me" and get me fired for speaking my mind and stating the truth? I'm sure you would try, because that would be on par with the way the company works. For now I'll just let you keep guessing as to if I work there or not.

Bitter? Yeah, along with every single pilot in SUS. (including the ones who still have jobs there).

Now run along to your dispatcher cubicle, re-read my original post, and try to think of a good pilot-sounding reply.

To come on here and cheerlead for the Bobs while many were let go (without the offer of a lesser paying job elsewhere in the sprawling nationwide cluster--) is nothing short of kicking guys when they are down.

People on here were affected firsthand, and are not hearing this from a "friend." They have kids, mortgages and bills to pay and according to you it isn't reality. It is. Name calling and other personal attacks does nothing to paint you as a professional in any regard.

To those current and former employees of Sentient, good luck to you all.

First of all, you've misinterpreted me. My intent was not to get everyone infuriated about this. And whether you want to believe me or not, I am current and qual'd for one of the acquired companies and i do infact have a mortgage to pay, car payments and have been personally affected by this gigantic mess - as much as anyone else who works at this place. But that really has nothing to do with it - even if i wasnt the point is the same.

You can see me as a flag toting ass kisser and there's no doubt that things are a disaster - and actually completely fu--ed up, but sitting around taking jabs at the place while they're down doesnt solve anything for those of us that still have jobs and families to provide for. I've had resumes out at other places since even before we were bought and its not exactly great out there right now, which i am sure you all know. My checks are still clearing and until they do, i will be committed to helping them stay alive - which isnt easy right now.

So, why is it that you are knocking me just becasue I want to see my employer stay in business? I don't see it as cheerleading, but trying to at least defend SOME level of credibility of the place - which i agree gets harder by the day. There are those of us who are busting our ass 20 days per month to keep the place alive. Its a little offensive to have people constantly taking jabs at them. Unless you have been there, you have no idea how embarrasing it is to have your credit card declined at the fbo three times in a week and having people constantly asking when you're going to be "without a job". It sucks, actually.

As far as SUS is concenred, I was not IN the room when these guys were laid off, but I know how much they were working - everyone did. Its sucks they lost their jobs - don't get me wrong - but the writing had been on the wall for months.

You guys can chastize me for speaking it like it is, but you cannot argue the fact that we're all just chess pieces in this environment. Like it or not, thats the reality. I can either throw rocks at the place or help them figure out how to make it work by staying positive. Ive chosen to do the second of those.

Lastly, I was not trying to get the three of you riled up - and i apologize if you perceoved it as a provocation. that was not the intent. and i used to work for Dan, but you missed the mark on that too.

All I can tell you guys is that when they laid people off here, they were told that they could apply for the other open positions. At the end of the day, how is there a NICE way to get laid off? It sucks no matter how you slice it - my point has been that it was not unexpected, whether handled well or not.

I come in here to see what's happening with Sentient and I found this thread! You guys are a good thirty minutes of humor.

The way I see it is, you've got people inside the company together, outside the company and speculators all disagreeing on what's really going on and what isn't. No wonder it doesn't work! From what I 'hear' that approach is about as fruitful as being in a meeting with the former Sentient management (who shall all remain nameless).

This Red guy may or may not be a pilot - who cares. I thought the Dan Drohan guy that Country pointed out was with a company that got bought.....doubt he'd be on The Hangar typing posts fellas. I'm sure he's sipping dacquiris thanking God he's out. Although that MySpace post is pretty funny.

As for the "method" that people were laid off "Stale," I agree. I doubt that any of it was done really well and those are real people with real families.

You guys are saying the same thing - Nobody should have been surpised, and it should have been handled better.

So if you know someone that got laid off, give them a lead for a job. If you didn't, be thankful I guess.

In the meantime, I am going to be grateful I have had nothing to do with any of this and search for a thread that was as entertaining as yours!
