Global, yes. U.S., no. TC

Don't forget, most of those predictions were made before the age 65 rule, back then when oil was $80/ barrel. Things are a bit different at present

Well considering most jobs these days are in the Middle East (cheap oil) and Asia (booming economies and rapid growth) with little native pilot populations, I'd say he's still nuts on for a global shortage.

I have heard this crap from Kit Darby ever since I got involved in aviation-that was back in '90..... That guy is all about self-promotion, never let any truth get in the way!

Even if there was a pilot shortage in the US, it wouldn't help anything. The only thing that would happen is you would see the Multi Crew Licence come in to play quicker. As soon as that happens, you've effectively doubled the amount of pilots in this country, and the FO pay will drop as candidates become more available to do this with no experience or flight background required. ALPA needs to kill this thing off.

Did it ever occur to you guys that there’s a looming pilot shortage because most just don’t want the career anymore. Too little pay for too much risk. Why spend $120,000 in education costs and licenses for a career that can’t even keep up with inflation.

Stop thinking rationally. There is a line from Seattle to San Fran of guys who want to fly big planes for free or 2/3 the going rate. Just look at Virgin or Allegiant. Skybus even had a line to get in!
