I was at work today (the AOC) and ran into a fellow pilot buddy that just came out of an ACP's (Assitant Chief Pilot) office. He said the ACP told him there will be a seat bid next week for 50 widebody captains.

I like the sounds of that. It means movement! Hopefully this rumor will come to fruition in the near future. He also said a class of 8 internal guys are starting next week.

Internal guys are either currently working in the training department or the corporate side of the house.

My understanding is that they have to make a three year commitment to those areas before they will be considered for transition to the line.

Even then there are still no guarantees.

Lets hope this is the sound of the plug coming out of the drain at he bottom of the pool!:p

not yet

Ive notice that past seat bid rumors were about 1-2 weeks off the mark. We'll see if that holds true.

I think they like to keep us guessing.

Profile Update

Strike up the band!!

Just updated my profile. Glad to see that my old profile info that was "on file" last fall before they closed the updates...came forward just fine.

Fingers are crossed!

K.D. New phone #?

Does anyone know K.D. new phone #? I tried to call the old number but no answer. I think she changed #'s.

Before anyone gets to excited, I am in the pool and would just like to update her with a new phone # and address since I have moved twice since I interviewed.

Thanks
Rich

Phone # updates

Hey Rich,

Just go online and update your application with the new info. I'm sure they'll review all the updated stuff before they start making calls in order to fill classes.

Later,

Update?

Dornier,

Maybe I misunderstood your post...but, are you suggesting that we poolies update our profile? Seems like a simple email to KD would suffice if we have any changes to our contact/availability information.

Can't hurt

Pecan: I think that is what he is saying. I tried to find a number for KD all afternoon and couldn't come up with one. I checked, and my profile is still in the system, and I've been here over a year and a half, so the poolies info is probably still in there as well. It might be the best way to insure she has the current phone number, unless you have the correct email address. Either way, it couldn't hurt to update the profile with new numbers. Who knows what criteria they might use to determine the order to call people in for classes?

Just some food for thought.

interviews

Heard some good news on my flight tonight.

The captain I flew with tonight does newhire interviews. He surprised me by saying he is scheduled to do interviews 2 days later this month! I guess the rumorville has been true - we are interviewing new guys (outside the pool)!

more news

CP just sent out an email. It basically said we are bringing eligible corporate and training guys over to the line in the next month and we will hire about 24 additional pilots in the next several months. Pools guys will be working their way onto the property with "first in/first out" type methodolgy. We will also be interviewing to replentish the pool.

Updates

Pecan,

Yes, that's what I'm suggesting that you do. The electronic profile is the official information that the company uses regarding you.

Why would you want to just email someone in the hiring department and have them do what you could easily do on the website? (I even checked my own profile - it is still there and could be updated.)

It should only take you a few minutes to update your changed info, so have at it!!!

Good Luck,

Bottom of the list

If I'm not mistaken Huck, the internals and corp folks go to the bottom of the seniority list just like a new hire. I don't know for sure, but I asked that question earlier and that was the response I got.

Still keeping my fingers crossed.

FJ

oh come on busdriver..... you know they will not go to the bottom of the list ..... they have been a company employee/pilot for the past three years.

Came out TODAY!

Just off the wires, posting 04-02. But only for 15 Airbus Captains and secondaries. Bid closes on Mar 17, St Patty's Day! Keep them coming!

FJ

Well then somebody's not telling me something because that's EXACTLY what happened to me, as well as all internal hires that I know from the training dept.

I've had the chance to work with some corp folks and also have helped get some guys ready for their "pro IP" job at FedEx. In any case, they get a job, and they can use their "years of service" in their retirement mulitplier....BUT....they get a line number based on date they go in class for the LINE.

One very nice, very capable pro instructor who helped me through my training at FDX is 100 numbers or so below me. Ironic? Yes. Fair...debatable. Fact o' life....yep.

Put the gun down, Huck....and pet the dog. Nobody is jumping in front of you.

TWGORDY-

Company employees and the pilot group have two different seniority systems. The are some FO's on the 727 that have a wide body captain employee number...Why?...because they threw boxes back in college or did something else at the company on the internal side.

Even the pro instructors and corporate pilots go to the bottom of the list once they are hired as a FedEx mainline pilot.

Yeah, I flew with that guy, sits in the right seat of the 72, but has an employee number from 1976. He threw boxes for a summer before college, went off and spent 20 years in the military, then came back and gets his original employee number.

He told some great stories about working under that old tin roof north of the Courtyard - pilots jumping out and helping unload the Falcons - Fred driving around in a station wagon, looking for loafers so he could fire them on the spot....

I attribute my panic, above, to having dealt with the gulf coast fog for the last 3 days!

Any luck on getting a number for KD? I tried the old -3816 number to call and the fax number that ends in -3826 and neither answered. I tried sending an email with no luck as well. I have some stuff I need to fax to KD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
