"why would FedEx want 737s when there are other (seemingly) more cargo-suitable airframes out there?"-

BoilerUp, just wondering what other airframes you have in mind?

FedEx already has the MD10/11 family of planes, as well as the A300/310, along with their 727 fleet.

I was thinking of the B757/767 family as UPS uses them, but I suppose a 737 can carry cargo just as well as a 757. Guess I just have a hard time picturing an ATA 738 beside a FedEx 738.

Regardless of the airframe chosen, more planes is great for the poolies!

Long term goal is a replacement for the 727. There are a lot of smaller airports out there where it is neither smart nor cost effective to use an MD-11/10 or even an Airbus.

"They" said 737-900's in recurrent training. (Third hand rumor, so it must be true) "They" also speculated about the possibility that this "exchange" with Boeing could make the whole MD-10 program go away....But what do "they" know?

ok

I don't know if I'm gonna Sh-t or go blind... Do you think there is any truth to this?? I hope you are right.. Besides, I am really only posting this to keep it on the front page...

Peace

Got the story from another insider, who wishes to remain nameless, but is definitely in the know. We will be hiring this spring and we are buying 737-800s.

It all sounds good to me!

Talked with a friend last night that mentioned reading Fedex will be attending a job fair (airinc or something) and that they will be doing hiring this spring to replace the 55-ish people in the pool. He also mentioned April.. Come on people all info and hope is needed for this drowning hopeful.

Bump....

Below is an internal post from FedEx looking for 727 flex instructors.

Why would they be needing these guys?

Lots of rumors must be good.
