Talked with KD today. She offered 727 Mem starting 31JUL. She said there will be 26 in the class...half MD 11 and half 727 (not saying which seat to be filled on the 727). I gladly accepted. I interviewed Jan 3/4. My fingers are pruned and it's time to dry off. See ya'll on property.

Sorry Malter, July 31 class, I interviewed Jan 3,4 then updated medical and drug test May 22.I did'nt ask about class size and she did'nt volunteer any extra information. I was never offered anything but the 727 Memphis base. I was somewhat surprised not to be offered MD 11 as my last job was 747 with EFIS/FMS (not quite the glass of the MD 11 but similar flying). Hope this helps...best of luck.
Thanks for the update. 747 with glass!? That is surprising you weren't offerred the MD-11. Congratulations again. See you there!

Back when I was hired in Aug/Sep 01 I had offers but no class from FedEx and Jetblue.

FedEx was "cricket cricket...." Dead silence. No info. It sucked.

JetBlue was a "Blue note" about every two weeks. Periodic calls from Dean Melonas and some of the recruiting staff. (I understand now they have a sponsor who keeps you in the loop....) I got more correspondence from JB the five months I was waiting for a class than I did the first 2 years I was a line pilot at FedEx.

I obviously voted for FedEx anyway, but my point is there are better ways to handle potential employees than the way FDX and SWA seem to do it. Perhaps a previous poolie who ends up in the training department one day can spearhead a way to improve the process.

For those waiting for FDX...I will say it was worth the wait. Its a great company, great crew force, and I'm glad to be here. I remember, however, the great silence on the phone and I wasn't really even in the pool...just waiting on a firm class date. You guys keep the faith...

so most people like MEM instead of the other bases? Id think ANC would be cool

A lot of people like Memphis because it is an easy commute. Very few actually want to live there. And yes, ANC is cool. Just dead headed to EWR (1st class...cool) then operated to Paris (49 hour layover...way cool) and now I'm sitting in New Delhi (NOT cool). It is an adventure.

Albie gets my comments and does a good job of providing his well reasoned info.

I personally think the "information blackout" is another part of the test. If you give up now they know you would just go go with whoever held your hand the best during the process. Not a real FedEx diehard.

He also knows I mean no disrespect to the nuggets. Just making some observations and hoping for some conversation.

Was it that long ago that this place was populated with an 'unofficial' Southwest poolee list right alongside the 'unofficial' FedEx one? I wasn't on either, but I got the impression that no one on either list had a clue as to what was really going on. Sounds like the UPS deal is even more confusing. So my point is Sarge, what exactly is your point?

Good question!! He has some sort of issue going on or he wouldn't be adding to this thread.

JT and Jumbo Pilot,
I'm with you on the pain level, 10 years of heavy time along with 2+ years of 73 time. Interviewed end of Jan, not sure what it takes to get the magical call. Question, are any of you guys who got a class date recently still in the Guard or Reserves? I know several people who got hired in the past and then took Mil leave right away. I'm sure the company was not too keen on that when they are short pilots. I hope that isn't affecting the rest of the current military guys swimming in the pool. Just a thought. Congrats to everybody with class dates, hope to join ya soon.

I was an MD11 captain when I came here - and I thank God I got some time on the panel first. This place takes some getting used to, and my stress level was high enough already.

After about 6 months I was ready to go back to the front seats - but it took two and a half more years!

Does anyone have an accurate number for the folks swimming in the purple pool? If so, is this number after the current classes or before?
Second: Any idea when the pool will be dry or near the bottom?

I was told by KD that there are approximately 300-350 in the pool as of about a month ago. She stated that the goal is to empty the pool by December.
