Tired of peeing in the wind......
Aren't we all? However, you have to look at everything ALPA does and in its' entirety it does a good service.

You can't win by fighting your bargaining agent. Without ALPA, Delta's flying becomes a purely economic arguement. Delta in fact owns the code and the brand. Might not be fair, but management has no DFR obligation.

Might as well let it go; or try to engage in the process in the hope that ALPA will negotiate contracts which bind the Company who operates the brand.

Just wait until the NWA/DAL shotgun marriage....you might be singing a different tune.....

You seem to be singing a slightly different tune on the other side of the fence.....I am hearing a lot of bravado talk of taking the flying back even if it means undercutting us.....

That could cut both ways....I am ready to take on a bigger aircraft for "market rates"......

This union can start acting like a union or we can engage in a big food fight.....I'm ready for either option.....It would be nice if we worked together...but I really don't see that happening after watching the AAA and DAL/NWA pi$$ing contests.....

Prepare to repel borders......

Joe, I hope not, ALPA is not the enemy.

First, talk is cheap, no one listens anyway. But for the record; never, not once, have I ever advocated "undercutting" you. If you would like to "take on a bigger aircraft for market rates" that opportunity exists....

....from this side of the fence ALPA could very well be the enemy.....We don't have scope and ALPA wants to set limits on my company....that makes them the enemy from where I sit....

....it's all a matter of perspective....

...why the change of heart from you? Things look different over there?

I am not worried about YOU....YOU are not representative of the mainline pilots or of ALPA....but the trend has been for mainline's to "recapture" at lower costs.....

I am worried about your MEC and ALPA.....Our union has not made us equal shareholders in this issue.....Therefor we have to do what is in our own best interests.....That is a shame....but it is what it is...as they say.....

Joe:

I agree with nearly nothing our current administration does, but that does not mean I'm ready to declare war and issue Conch Republic passports.

Well they sold it for "bargaining credits" so using the same logic they think they must have to buy it back. However, I know of no examples where this has been effective, do you? SkyWest's Student Counsel sure gave it a try though.

....at a certain point you have to have a tea party and start the revolt.....diplomacy only goes so far....it appears we are at the point of starting the revolution....

....I'm ready for my Conch Republic passport....The trawler "School Boy Heart" is headed that way.....

USAir did it with the Ejets....those E190 mainline pilots are making less than me.....

A quick look at payrates shows your full of it unless you have been there 15+ years and or you are getting some checkairman override. While their rates should be higher I agree, their 1st year CA rate is what your 10 year captain rate is. On top of that their FO's make more than any of your FO's. Those rates are sure to go up is ASA's going to?

Now we know why your lawsuit, like your career, failed miserably!

From Airlinepilot central.....

ASA yr 13 Atr/Crj pay.........$84/hr

US Airways yr 13 pay...........$95/hr

You claim to be there 13 yrs......Right??

Just wait until the NWA/DAL shotgun marriage....you might be singing a different tune.....
What tune.....That you and your pathetic gang are scumbags wanting something you can't have so you resort to a lawsuit costing $$millions and recieving NOTHING in exchange for it?

You seem to be singing a slightly different tune on the other side of the fence.....I am hearing a lot of bravado talk of taking the flying back even if it means undercutting us.....
Really? Would you care to elaborate? From FI? Wow, that must make it credible!

That could cut both ways....I am ready to take on a bigger aircraft for "market rates"......
Translation (rjdc style) I'm ready to work for half your pay to get bigger aircraft at my airline even though I can't get hired at a legacy!

This union can start acting like a union or we can engage in a big food fight.....I'm ready for either option.....It would be nice if we worked together...
We tried to work with you.....Your response was your frivilous lawsuit dividing us even more!

but I really don't see that happening after watching the AAA and DAL/NWA pi$$ing contests.....
But you sure do enjoy the infighting....

Prepare to repel borders......
Against low baller, scum like you....Everyday.
You've already proven you want to do my job for 1/2 the pay, even hiring a lawyer to try it!

That Joe Merchant guy seems pretty uptight, and a bit of a jerk as well. Was he turned down at Delta or something?

Not that I know of. He's comfortably pulling down six figures flying three day trips and has not applied anywhere that I know of. He served in the negotiating committee and on the MEC at ASA a couple of administrations ago.

Unfortunately, rational compromise is not part of his make up. He occassionally puts together efforts to change the players in the ASA MEC. His team lost, but, his effort his effect got the MEC to make a course adjustment. Ultimately the ASA MEC got a good contract under the circumstances at ASA.

Joe's a bomb thrower. Kind of a shame because at heart he is a true labor unionist, IMHO. But, since he can't stand a flawed ALPA, he wants the union "destroyed" without thinking through what would remain of this profession devoid of ALPA's involvement.
