isn't the range 5700nm for the 7x?
and it appears to be 4350nm for the g450 and 6750nm for the g550.
If the price is so high, why would somebody buy a 7x versus a gulfstream? fly by wire? 3rd engine?

Because you get a better cabin with the Falcon. The Gulfstream is a very narrow tube, and thus is not very confortable on long flights.

on a twelve hour flight they are all uncomfortable....but i would still rather be in a gulfstream

7x

Great plane to come. At NBAA I asked sales a few questions. At Mach .85 the 7X drops down to 4500NM, I think the Gulfstream is flying somewhat faster, the Global 5000 is doing .85 however this plane burns a lot of fuel to get the job done. Also heard that the Falcon 7X will burn 5 gallons for every 8 the Global burns, that is a BIG difference. The Gulfstream uses a little less fuel but not much, same engines. Efficiency is getting more and more important, just look at Boeing and Airbus, both coming out with much more efficient planes. I love Gulfstreams, the Global looks pretty nice too. However, the Falcon 7X is going to be a hard plane to beat, just gotta get that aquistion price down 3-4 Million and it will compete really well. Not likely.

AA, how on earth can you say it's irrelevant to this discussion? If the G500, or 550, will burn 38,000 (or 32,000 w/o reserves) pounds on a 5700nm trip, and the 7X only holds 28,900 pounds but can do the same trip with reserves, it sure sounds pretty darn relavant to me!

It's irrelevant because the numbers are so vague since I took them from the G550 QRH and tried to interpolate it to the 500. I'm lousy on performance anyway so I probably even screwed up the swag.TC

All I've heard is the first one or two are destined for the U.S. DFJ is keeping names under wraps for obvious reasons.

It is also my understanding that training will be provided by SimuFlite's new facility to be built somewhere in the NY/NJ area.

Last I heard, DFJ was still trying to get the FAA and EASA to buy off on a plan that type ratings would be EASy types, with differences for each aircraft, rather than a separate type for each model. That would be great if it happens. They (FAA) bought off on the common Airbus type, as well as the common DA50/900 type, however, I've heard they're balking at the EASy type, so we'll see.

Straight from some horses' mouth....

Dassault Rolls out Falcon 7X Today in France
[font=Times New Roman, Times, serif]Dassault Aviation formally unveiled Falcon 7X S/N 001 to an audience of 800 guests today at Charles Lindbergh Hall at Dassault Aviation’s Bordeaux-Mérignac facility. “Today we have made a huge step forward in the industry,” said Dassault Aviation chairman and CEO Charles Edelstenne. “The 7X will accomplish many firsts. It is the first airplane ever designed and built in an entirely virtual environment. Also, the 7X will be the first [traditional] business jet to be flown with fly-by-wire technology. FBW reduces pilot workload and increases safety.” Dassault said it has orders for 50 of the new trijet. Six aircraft are currently in various stages of production. The first in a series of ground tests was completed successfully on February 1, Dassault said. Flight testing is scheduled to start at the beginning of the second quarter and last about 18 months, with three aircraft. Certification and first deliveries are expected before the end of next year. Separately, Montreal-based CAE announced that its training center for the Falcon 7X will be built in Morris County, N.J. The center, expected to be operational by summer next year, will also provide training for the Falcon 900EX/EASy and 2000EX/EASy.

It is all the same to me, since I have the best seat anyway, but our senior management prefers the Falcon cabin to the Guflstream cabin (and we have both types).

I was sure hoping they'd place the new facility in the DFW area, but I understand their reasoning. Still, a 21-day initial or 5-day recurrent in DFW or TEB? No brainer if you ask me! ;)

Morristown is a much nicer area that TEB, but it's still Jersey. Why couldn't they put it in PBI or MIA.

But you gotta admit, PBI or MIA would've been a nice change of scenery for most of us. All Morristown has to offer is a longer drive from most of the hotels and airports.

yes true....anywhere but TEXAS! (err..well Witchita could be bad too) I suppose at this point my only goal in corp aviation is to never airline to training again....

Now...Morristown has some pretty good restaurants!!...a few decent pubs....

It may be a few years away but we should start rounding up the good places to feed and drink at!! (the important stuff.)

anyone know if Dublin Pub is still open????

:D .

I like the folks at FSI-TEB...a great bunch to work with. However, a January recurrent in TEB or DFW....come on now, would it be f'n Texas then? ;) Besides, I'd take TX BBQ over NJ Italian anyday!

Uh oh, I think I just opened a can of thread redirect to BBQ!!

Yeah, I'll take the BBQ also....but knocking NJ Italian??? c'mon now....your budget must be Olive Garden my man! (haha)

Texas is simply the a$$hole of the United States.
Land of the fast food restaurant, the modified F-150, and the Illegal Alien.
I say we just give it to Mexico and be done with it.

Now don't get me wrong, I do love a good italian meal. Really, who could resist Segovia's!!! (side note, next time there, get the seafood stew <don't know it's italian name> with fish, lobster, clams, etc. Oh my!)

Darn it...where was I going with this post???
