this can't be good for anyone.... hate that it happened.
Possible correlation to no FTDT????????
Just remember, when he goes, so does the in-house push for FTDT.
When that dies a slow death in the coming election year say good bye to the new staffing models that would have gotten you to upgrade or hired at a major.
Schadenfreude seems like fun at first, until you realizes it impacts you too.
He just resigned....
He just resigned....
Wow, Today our Government ousted a true aviation legend, Randy Babbitt. Randy was a professional aviator, former ALPA President and straight thinker and a great FAA Administrator. No one brought a more balanced perspective to the world of commercial aviation than Randy. How can a life time (he was only 65) be eradicated by one traffic ticket for alleged DUI. He hasn't even had his day in court. We always were willing to work with our professional work force to rehabilitate / help and give another chance to anyone....nobody's perfect. Randy deserved the same basic rights as any Airline employee or Military airman to a recovery program. What a loss for commercial aviation...what a loss for our country. Where do we find someone to replace even 70% of what he brought to the table everyday. Wow....in Europe they assign senior government officials personal drivers to ensure they get home safely after spending an evening toasting visiting officials at an official dinner.....We need more people like Randy Babbitt to guide us through an ever evolving, complex world of commercial aviation. We're all going to miss him...even those who never knew what he id everyday of us. Something is really wrong with a system that throws the best over the side at the first hint of anything socially not "acceptable". Loyalty should always be a two way street.
Politics will not permit a second chance. We've lost a really good man.
I think he deserves a second chance. Just like every pilot that get's one DUI gets a second chance...
You'd better re-read the regs on that one Bro...
One might argue that Randy wasn't fired because he was arrested for an alleged DUI, but because his boss read about it in the paper the next morning while Randy was out flying a trip on an FAA aircraft!
maybe he thinks Randy was set up?
Set up how, someone force-fed him booze and them forced him to drive?
