Does anyone have any information on ExpressJet as well as what they're planning on doing with the 59 ERJs they "gained" from Continental? I know about the charter operation start up with roughly 15 planes or so, but what are they doing/planning on doing with the rest?

And it was 69 not 59. word is announcement coming out at the end of this month at the investors report. We shall See

Yeah, the announcement is probably branded flying but who knows. In case anybody is marking the day on the calandar, just remember that the announcement was supposed to be in

September. Then
October. Then
November. Then
December. Then
January. Now
February.

So don't hold your breath

Is there any talk of them tossing their name in the hat and bid for other codeshare flying or will they keep all the chicks in one nest?

Supposedly, they have bid on everything that has come up and been turned down. Haven't heard anything firm about DAL yet, just rumor.

The latest rumor is:

-15 airplanes to charter (more possibly later; this is a FOR SURE thing);

-10 airplanes to be committed to Delta flying (to be announced somewhere around 1/24 to 2/1 with a base of SLC ...supposedly, a ground school class got told the deal is 99% done, just waiting on a signature from a higher-up on vacation).

-The remainder going to branded flying. Also TBA 1/24-2/1. Base of Ontario, CA and eventually KAUS if it works out.

We are hiring 80 pilots a month, so there's gotta be something going on!

Every rumor I have heard so far comes from a "higher up" and is 99% a done deal. AA, Midex, Frontier, ect.

Yea, it's the 1% that seems to end up getting me every time! But for what it's worth I really hope we pull this off.

I always laugh at rumors that come from groundschool. Why would they tell a class of recurrent guys confidential information? I also doubt the deal is based on a signature from a higher up and he is waiting until he is back from vacation to sign it. You would think this higher up would be around to ink a deal for some flying. I was in recurrent last May and was told that a deal with American was 99% done and would be announced "anytime now". My buddies were told the same about the Midwest deal. Hopefully the SLC thing is true, but I wouldn't plan on it until you read it on Yahoo.

I forgot to add Aviacsa as well.

"Yep, it 99% a done deal. Infact, XJet is going to be making money on BOTH the leases and training. We are going to be training all their pilots. Yep, good deal for XJet blah blah blah blah blah."

gotta be hiring more than 80 a month since 144 a month are going through the school house. Thats simply new hire's, does not include captains.

Well the aviacsa deal was done, but the pres. of aviacsa, who was essentially putting up his own cash, backed out at the 11th hour. Cant blame a guy for not wanting to lose millions of dollars. There were aviacsa people at flight safety HOU going through EMB class when I was there in late sept.-early oct.

What's up with all the firings at XJT?? They are going to have to hire 10 per month just to cover firings if they keep it up. So much for a good pilot management relationship. I always thought XJT could get along without a union, but from what I've been hearing, those IAH chiefs and GS are cleaning house. Better be careful over there from what I've been hearing. Some really petty stuff has been getting guys canned lately. Kind of a turn from the old days with scooter boy and crackhead flying airplanes.

No, it wasn't a done deal. If it was a done deal, 25 airplanes would have gone south, right? By definition, a done deal is one with two or more signatures on the bottom line. That didn't happen.

It was close to a done deal, but close only counts in horse shoes, hand grenades, and atomic weapons.

Thats because we have one of the greatest and most respected chief pilots out there. He's so good, that the other two have decided to put him across the hallway away from them. Can't blame them.

only heard of 1 getting fired lately and it was a new hire still on probation.

A six year captain was just fired for something that was wrong, but he may not have had complete knowledge of the situation that was going on. There are guys at XJT that have done stuff that are far worse than this guy did and they didn't even get pulled off of trips. I'm very suprised by this as he is also one of the nicest guys I know in IAH. It seems the CP office in IAH is going on a termination spree.

I think the sarcasm and joke value went straight over your head.

6 to be exact. 8 hearings resulting in 6 terminations. Dont know how many were probationary pilots, at least 1 was, probably more.

Just as well... There is alot about leasing airplanes that isn't so easy. We don't know if they made SDs or MX reserves available - my guess is they didn't. Alot of risk in sending all of the airplanes to one operator, plus we wouldn't be flying them.

Yep, apparently we've bid on everything to come up and been beaten out by SkyWest on the Midwest deal and Republic on the Frontier thing, though for 70 seaters not 50 seaters. Who the heck knows whats going on, hopefully management does.... But, we are hiring and apparently cannot crank the newhires and upgrades thru fast enough...betcha this weekend gets red-flagged in IAH with the ice storm on the way...

let's hold on to a bunch of planes that we can't make money flying

Cant?? Well your wrong already boss because we already have aircraft flrying for us that are making money outside of the CAL bubble. Charter aircraft started flying and producing income to XJT 2 days after they left CAL service. Thanks for your concernt though.
