i noticed how low the mins were but is anyone really getting hired with times that low? i'm pretty close to those times. just curious. thanks.

Most are getting hired near 1,000. But some with less. If you bring a good attitude into the interview anythings possible.

Just be sure that you have earned your multi time either by instructing or flying 135, and that you are current. You can meet the mins, but if you aren't current, or don't have a current flying job you may be disqualified.

thanks for the replies! most of my multi time came from flight training. i did a majority of my training in a twin. i only have about 15 hrs of dual given one. i do have a current flying job as as instructor. i am multi current but barely. i have about 160 hrs of multi time. i just need to get my total time up. i hope to be able to apply by spring.

As a current XJet Captain all I have to say is that the mins these days scare the hell out of me.

"i am multi current but barely."
Wow, I can't wait to fly with you.

Now that is not very nice...Give the kid a break, he/she will have to pass through the grinder before he/she has to put up with your shinanigans... :D
Trust the system and if you do not like what u see then take it from there.

SGU, What do you expect from someone that voted for kerry? MJG can't help it if he is mentally challenged...
Oh. My. Goodness.

Can we please, pretty please, not have ANY more election comments on this board? I mean, SERIOUSLY, it's OVER. Who won, won. Who lost, lost.

People who voted for Kerry are not mentally challenged. Yes, I know you meant it tongue-in-cheek.

People who voted for Bush are not <insert stupid name> here.

Everybody who voted did their civic duty. All this BS about how Bush got the most votes ever meaning he's the best president ever, or whatever people come up with, is nothing but crazy-talk. Guess what, Kerry got the second-most votes ever. So would that make him a better president than Reagan? How about George Washington, or Abraham Lincoln? Neither of them got many votes, comparitively.

If you were a Bush supporter, now that you guys got what you wanted, please write your representatives and senators and tell them what you want them to do with their newfound power.

If you were a Kerry supporter, write your representatives and senators and tell them what you want them to to as well. They still represent you, and they just may listen. While you're at it, figure out what went wrong, and offer to help the Democratic party in 2006 repair some of the damage.

But please, PLEASE, no piss-ant comments on this board about who somebody voted for, or who somebody supported before the election. It does no good, and just makes you look stupid. Even if you only mean it in humor.

Plunger....APPLY NOW!!!

Don't ask why just do it. I was flying with one of our interviewers last week so take it from me, apply now! All they can say is NO.

I'm not terribly excited with our new 'mins' as I'm upgrading next month but if they hire you and you get through training I'm sure after awhile (soon we hope) you will be fine :). Just be humble and learn from the CA's here. We do not have any that have not been on the plane for thousands of hours!

i had one of the interviewers in the jumpseat this summer...they told me most people who get reject didnt follow ALL the directions (paperwork, currency , etc) and didnt know the aircraft (systems ) that they currently fly (aka..they had a 135 guy that didnt know the max landing gear extension speed for his ac..etc)...if you dont fly 135 or have a lot of ifr experience, theyll grill you on ifr stuff so study the aim and jepps..if you fly 135/121 they will ask you stuff pertaining to those regs...the interviewer said MOST people who follow directions and come in with a good attitude and are professional get the job..as an exjet captain i can say almost all of the new hires i have flown with are great pilots and have great attitudes..good luck!

thanks guys for all the advice and encouragement! i'm a little hesitant to apply just yet. the new internet questionair asks if you have 600tt, 100multi, and something like 20 actual. i have everything except the 600tt. i only have around 500tt. i thought that i read somewhere on here that a guy took "bad advice" as he put it and applied early. 100hrs is a pretty tall gap when the mins are already so low. To the guy who "can't wait to fly with me", I can't wait to fly with you! i know i wouldn't be the most experienced pilot you've ever flown with but i can guarantee that i'll show up to work with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a respect for your position. Happy flying!

MJG, your point is understood, and I imagine your busted your ass instructing or flying 135 for a few years before you started at XJET, but I somewhat disagree. I imagine that if you make it through training, that you are hopefully qualified to be in the right seat, even if you have sub-1000 flight time. I myself am a low-time candidate, and I hope that my attitude, willingness to learn, and work ethic can at least partially compensate for my lack of experience. Continuing on the theme of what plunger said, I hope that if I fly with you, you judge me by my attitude and performance in the cockpit, not by a number.

i can understand MJG's point. if i were a captain i'd definatley like to have an experienced fo with me when the sh$t hits the fan. BUT, you sure can't blame us low timers who meet the published mins from applying, and if offered, excepting the job. MJG's problem is with the airline, not the low time pilot. PFTer's on the other hand, now that's a different story. Besides, by the time guys like me upgrade, we'll probably have more time in that airplane than the average CA upgrade.

Do yo except the job or accept the job?

I hope the XJT captains don't mind flying single pilot because in my experience, although the 600 hour guys may be good pilots, when they are thrown in a jet traveling 5 times faster than what they've ever seen before and fully automated, they get so far behind that it's almost like flying from the back of the plane.

I know someone just hired with Xjet with 1200TT, not sure about his Multi - but xjet's mins for the school I am training at is 500TT 100M (with a type rating), but I guess that info only helps those with 300TT or less.
