I'm trying to get as much info on evergreen that I can. Can anyone help?

1) QOL?
2) schedules?
3) training and training pay?
4) over all how do you like it?
5) furloughs?
6) stability?

Thanks.

I did thanks, but I think the one question I couldn't find an answer to is.....

I know everyone is based in JFK? So do you sit RSV there too? Or do you know you have a trip out of there? I guess what I really am asking is do you have to have a crash pad there?

They pay for your hotel when on RSV in JFK, so the answer is no. No crashpad needed.

Evergreen

I'm very interested in Evergreen- I live near Mc Minnville; anyone know if a visit to HQ to deliver a resume would be a productive way to spend an afternoon? Would I ever get past the front desk? I used to fly in Alaska and this was the only way to get a job. Any info appreciated!!

THey home base you and fly you to work! It sounds like you work 16 or 17 and are off 14 a month. All sounds great to me and I have been talking to them. Bad thing.....they furlough a lot seasonally(usually around the holidays) and they dont do it by seniority order.

First of all only the check airman are home based and flown to work, everyone else is based in JFK and you need to get to JFK on your own. EIA has not furloughed in about 2 years and I don't think one will be coming any time soon but when they do it is done by seniority.Years ago before the union they would not go in order but now they do. Two more A/C coming on line in JAN and the LCF starting next year so things look good.

re: "home basing" The system is that IF your trip originates somewhere other than JFK or you are going to work day(s) early or comng home day(s) late or if your trip ends away form JFK, they'll fly you home. You also have a "travel bank" that can be used to buy your own tickets home once you have it built up enough. With the addition of CASS, Evergreen is an easier commuting job too.

I have an interview coming up at Evergreen can anyone tell me what to expect? Also any more plusse or minuses would be greatly appreciated and I keep hearing 16 on 14 off for scheduling....does this really happen?

good luck in your interview... here is what to expect....
Show up at Airline HQ building at 0745. Recruiter will meet you in lobby around then. With my group (just 3 applicants), he reviewed our applications and gathered our certs right there in the lobby. From there we headed over to his office (in another building) to have someone review our applications deeper. Left there and went to Hospital for piss test. We then went back to HQ and met with a check airman who gave us a company brief... pay, beny's, schedules, company outlook etc. After that we took a short, 20 question test right out of the regs section of the ATP. After the test we went to lunch at the Museum... AWESOME!!! Find time during your visit to get there for more than a lunch hour! After returning from lunch, we went back to HQ and waited to do our panel interview. Panel consists of 5-6 people including Chief Engineer, management pilots, and HR. Not one single technical question! Just wanted to get to know me. After the panel interview we were sent on our way. Got word within the week. Sorry so long winded, wanted to be thorough! Good Luck!

Thanks.....very helpful. If you remember any of the 20 questions drop me a PM.

If anyone would PM me with interview info i'd really appreciate it. A friend of mine has an interview this Thur and doesn't know what to expect. If any Evergreen pilots would take the time to talk to him he would really be greatful. Thanks guys.....Baja.

I work for another supplemental freight carrier and we are required to be US citizens. I've heard different stories, but I think it is because of our military flights.

Thanks everyone for the info and PM's I got a class date of Oct 16. Lookin forward to it!!

Spitfire - i think you'll see JW in the 16th class as well. Enjoy the whale while I'm up the road in SEA studying the guppy!

Baja.

Mins are 4000 ttl, 1000 multi PIC, 1000 turbine (PIC or SIC). Most of the people here have had an internal reference from somebody. We hear that hiring will continue for the forseeable future, although no classes until after Jan 1 is the rumor.

tjmoser,

Just curious, I see 747 SIC in your ratings. Is there really such a thing? I spent a few years in that seat years ago and never got one, would have been a nice momento to carry on in my career.

required for ICAO, going to foriegn countries as of June 2006

man I looked at the payscale for them and, wow, that's not good pay for flying that hardware. A 5th yr captain on a 747 makes $70K? That sucks.

I have a X-Evergreen guy in my class at AS - he said they furloughed him because they had to put a few a/c in the shop and didn't want to keep him on the payroll. When they called back he was gone and very glad to be gone as well.

Spitfire - how's class?

Baja.

Your X-Evergreen guy is full of B.S. We have not furloughed anyone in several years!

If anything, he was fired for being incompetent or quit because he couldn't handle the schedule.

But furloughed? No Way! I call B.S. on that one!
