An IFR Clearance is required to go over FL180. But I guess you knew that already.

True, but....
How many airline guys call up clearance and say "AA 142, instruments to Charles De Gaulle, alfa!"

I heard someone with the all sign "gateway" do it once last month. The captain and I got a good laugh out of that.

I did the virtual airline thing when I was a kid. I still do the online ATC thing and goof around with the flightsim from time to time, just because I find it amazing how far things have come and the realism of it all. Make fun of me all you want....I don't care.

Oh, and as a side note, I don't particularly like Riddle so I do find that video to be a bit too dorky for even my tastes. :)

Good point. I guess I have been using ACARS too long.

He's going to take his boyfriend flying with him.....isn't that special!

I think I'm with Metro on this one.....need to log off FI and step away from the computer before I pass out...maybe I should go do some work or something...

IFR clearance without a single cloud in the sky?

Woo hoo! When you grow up, you might realize that filing IFR is necessary on a clear day. (Class A Airspace) Many times it is also easier to fly IFR than VFR. I am sure you will learn this when you have more total time than some of us fly in a couple of months!

You know I was gonna make a post about "oh god another one" or something like that... but Bjammin's got a dang good point. We tend to forget where we come from, and what it was like to dream. Some kid out there is dreaming of the day he gets to fly his first jet, and those of us that have gotten there laugh at stuff like this. It's a pretty gay video I admit, but you can't flame them for dreaming....

You know what, I'm kinda tired of guys bashing these kids for being motivated about flying.

I couldn't do a video like that, you guys?

Some of these guys may be spoiled, cocky, even annoying, but they hugely MOTIVATED BY AIRPLANES! What's wrong with that?

These guys will be our copilots and are part of the future of aviation. It would be wrong to dismiss them as "Neo-maxim zoom dweebies" just because they make a video that, for some reason, is offensive to you guys.

If your 19 year old son made a video like at and showed it off to you, would you have the same response?

Guys, get off your high horse. Most of us have the jobs these guys dream about. They would look at you with admiration when listlening to your stories. At you just poo poo them as geeks.

Stop it.
Hey k4fu... why don't you find something better to do with your time than e-stalk this dude. Get off your 250 hour high horse.
Bjammin's probably got more time upside down than you've got total.

I can flame them for living a sheltered life at Riddle and telling you to your face with a stern look that they have 99% Job placement after graduation and the best civillian flight training in the world.
