Fedx owns all the caravan, regardless of who's the operator they will want 2000 and 1000pic the least. Freight dogs from martinaire, airnow or any veteran 135 guys are pouring over like waves, even I can't even get a shot at it and I'm already in the house.

I didn't realize that. I figured Empire would be hiring right at the mins since the regionals are hiring in decent numbers as well.

T-Gates, I agree that single pilot IFR in those small planes is some of the most dangerous commercial flying one can do in the USA. I was just a bit disgruntled about the whole PIC vs SIC argument. Until 152hvy informed us that Empire is not hiring right at the 1000 PIC mins, I assumed anyone with the 1000 PIC and 2000 total would be a lock. I think PIC time is sometimes looked at in black and white, either you have it or don't. But SIC in a 727 on the line working all night long and in all kinds of weather, is by far more valuable than PIC in a C-210 flying around the area under VFR and excusively in VMC. That was my point. But apparently Empire isn't hiring guys with only general aviation PIC time.

You must look in context as far as PIC vs SIC. If you are going to be flying a caravan single pilot ifr then single pilot ifr experience would be applicable. If you are going to be flying a transport category aircraft then sic in a large jet would be more valuable. There is no point in fighting over which time is better. It all depends on where you want to go. In this case of a caravan a 210 part 135 pilot with 1200 hours would be far more qualified than someone with a bunch of sic crew time

Wow...

I submitted my resume, but they rejected it because I do not have 500PIC for an SIC position. I have 1000tt and 650 multi with 600 turbine time. I feel like I got robbed. Whats the point of 500pic anyway?

I am not trying to give you a hard time ok, but it sounds like this is the first time you got robbed in aviation. Well prepare to be robbed many, many, many, more times in this industry!

they want pic like most do to show that you know how to make decisions on your own. the goal is to be able to uprgade that person and if they have not had to make thier own decision what is the gurantee that they will be able to once in the left seat. personally i wouldn't hire anyone who hasn't flown 135 single pilot at all. it is the most valuable time that i know of. i learned more in my first couple of flight than ever did in the right seat.they also like to hire people fromthe area that they will be based at. no hurry to get on things are getting shakey. not finacially but the relationship between pilot and mgnt isn't the best.

it is made to be flown with the autopilot. not so much fun hand flying but doable. the worst is that they checklisted it to death witht the ice deal. handles just fine in ice as long as you know what is going on and aren't sleeping. good queit plane that is fun.

I agree with the worm. I REALLY learned how to fly alone in a C402 over the cascades at night in January. Those are lessons that can only be learned from brute, cold experience.
