it is made to be flown with the autopilot. not so much fun hand flying but doable. the worst is that they checklisted it to death witht the ice deal. handles just fine in ice as long as you know what is going on and aren't sleeping. good queit plane that is fun.

they want pic like most do to show that you know how to make decisions on your own. the goal is to be able to uprgade that person and if they have not had to make thier own decision what is the gurantee that they will be able to once in the left seat. personally i wouldn't hire anyone who hasn't flown 135 single pilot at all. it is the most valuable time that i know of. i learned more in my first couple of flight than ever did in the right seat.they also like to hire people fromthe area that they will be based at. no hurry to get on things are getting shakey. not finacially but the relationship between pilot and mgnt isn't the best.

I agree with the worm. I REALLY learned how to fly alone in a C402 over the cascades at night in January. Those are lessons that can only be learned from brute, cold experience.

Not to mention that the ATR is UGLY!!!!

Hey beer and Capt, what are you guys flying these days?

I'm no longer with Pac wings, working on A stars and Hughes 500's now. Still on Maui tho.

Ref,
Get your sweaty tail back outside and pump some gas. They ain't paying you that big ol check to sit inside and mouth off to your elders.

na4life,

Can't wait till my next pumpin' petro paycheck. I worked one extra day this week so that means I'll be paid more fuelin the planes than flyin them on this paycheck.

Boooyah!!

I'm bigtime baby.

I haven't joined the trash can club yet-got pretty close yesterday though.

We were in front of TSKY in a "slow" airplane which caused ATC to slow him to 170kias. I had a good chuckle over that one.
And yes Ref, I'm not only a two time member of the bag of shame club, butt also the president. I actually think it's comfy.

Having flown both the 135 & 121 sides I can say that the 135 world is not all that great but is far better than the 121 side. At least flying the Caravan you have a C.P. that looks after it's people. Q.O.L. for most F-27 & ATR pilots is very poor if not non-existent. Eventhough pay, per diem and insurance are way behind the curve (and will never get better), it's the ignorant, iron fisted management style of the company that made me look for another job. If you come here you will sign a no-holds-barred, long term, ridiculous training contract for sub-standard training, be forced to move at the companies whim, never be home and have your senority and bids laughed at. The only saving grace is the pilot group but seeing them continuously bent over is depressing. It's too bad because Empire used to be a decent place to work but has gone down hill very fast. Why anyone would come here when they could go to Skywest is beyond me. Greatfully my time there is done and I don't have to deal with it any more thanks to J.B.
