I wanted to know if anyone had any info on Empire Airlines: What they have been recently hiring at, what aircraft they are hiring into, do you leave the right seat of the ATR or F27 into the caravan and then into the left seat of the ATR or F27, what the pay is for FO's, and what the schedule is like.

we are currently hiring into both the f and atr. i know we are looking for street captians in the f. you do not go over to the caravan then back into the 121 world. usually people stay on one side.the schedule is different for every base most are out and back during the day very easy schedule. then some are mostly at night and hard schedule. you get hired for the base that needs somone, then can bid into another base but right now they are not allowing people to switch planes so pick a good one. you also can not get bumped out of a base on senority. the changeing of bases is based on senority only if there is an opening or new base which we have been opeining and probably will continue for a while. a lot of stuff still going on with expansion and fedex plans on more hopefully. good time to get in as the market opens opportunity for quick advancement. competitive time are >2000 tt 500 multi and recency is a must. also help if you have experience in diffucult terrain or challenging aiports.

Is Empire even hiring right now. I've submited my resume, and got the ever so friendly "thank you for applying" letter. Who do yo gotta "inflate" to get a job round here anyway?

I had a call from the ABQ chief pilot on the Vans, and he wanted me to come in for an interview. He called a couple days later telling me HR in Idaho already filled the position.

Still hoping something else might open up. Empire sounds like a decent place to spend some time

as strange as it sounds for a supplemental. knowing someone helps right now. i think we will be hiring a few a month for a while into the 121 side as for the 135 i am in the dark.

is it possible to get hirded in the left seat on the 121 side with less than 2000 pic if you greatly exceed all of the other time requierments?

no you need 3000 tt for the insurance. 1000me pic. 500 crew and trubine. most off the street cpts have worked in same capacity or where right seat at 121 but we have been burned before on right seaters going into left at our company. apply anyway since upgrade time is fairly quick now.

How are the 121 schedules of of SEA? Do they have a 121 base in PDX?

with the new bases and expansion do you think we will ever see the atr or f27 in PHX?

is it possible to commute or do you need to live in domicile?

Thanks

I've been told by some of my fellow CFI's at our flight school that they have a flow through arrangement to FedEx mainline. Is this true?

There is some sort of "executive refferal" but I think its a sham. Known many pilot that tried to do it but it never got anywhere. If you want go to Fedex go thru the military first.

...not even remotely true.

Hey man, your not a Captain any more...only a lonely F/O. Just flicking you cr@p. How are things going? Are you simming yet? What about Mr. Beer, is he done with IOE yet?

the 121 schedules out of sea are busy. out in the afternoon back the next day in the afternoon. no 121 in pdx but it is a possibilty in the future. you can commute but way easier to live there or plan to get a crash pad. you work everyday with only the weekends off sometimes. the referral is true just the wrong people have tried it but definetly not a flow through.blingair when are they going to let you out of you cage?atrcpt what is up. if this fedex thing dosen't go down how bout a little help with gemini. waiting till the end of the year though.

Yo worm, are you doing the E.R.? If you are I'd say don't waste your time. I don't think anyone has even got an invite for an interview ever. Don't know when I'll be back...I was just marooned out here and left for dead but I'm moving back there next month.

Nice to hear your heading back to SEA Blingair. The Fokkers do rule, and I did notice some strange hair products in my bathroom after I flew the ATR's.
As far as IOE, I'm heading out on the 7th for my 8 days of work this month.

Eight days of work in a month...that's more my speed! What's up my EA brothers? Bling, you're not still in ICT are you!?! If you are let me know and I'll overnight a case of Alaskan Amber to you. My type ride is on Sunday morning, and IOE after Thanksgiving. You, the worm and I. sharted need to get over here ASAP. These guys talk about places like Hong Kong and London like I talk about Spokane and Seattle! Word is we're getting another MD11 so hiring will start after the first of the year for both airframes. Give me a call.

PS, I'm serious about the Amber.

F&B: Where are you going on your IOE, hope its Bangcock or somewhere fun. I'm planning on moving back to SEA in late November but since the ICT f/o quit (imagine that) I'm sure I'll get my RX pulled (bet you don't miss those amateur shananigans). So I'm sure I'll be spending the holidays here. Take care.

AvionTransportRegionalPilotinCommand: Good luck on your ride, I'm sure you'll do fine. Dude if you send me a case of Amber I'll totally give you one of my several illegitimate children roaming the street. I'll PM you my "address".

You ever see some guy before he goes to prison and then see him a year later? Theres not much to do but workout and make booze out of urine and shoe leather. My point is I pity the fool who thinks he can sleep in my bed or fly my posistion while I'm gone. (in reality I've been eating fast food and sitting on my a$$ for 9 months).

How senior is the SEA base?
When it comes to bases, senority has little to do with anything. Its only sought after if a person is from the Washington/Oregon area. Our jumpseating agreements are poor which makes commuting difficult and unrealible. Other than that no one prefers it simply because its a better quality of life. In fact a SEA based guy works three times as much as any other base Empire has and for exactly the same pay. Because Empire is a small, non-union company, bases, bidding and senority mean almost nothing. Basicly you go where and do as the company wishes.

SEA works hard? I had this conversation with the head honcho in dispatch, and he told me that the SEA guys had more time off than anyone in the system. He said we had no reason to complain. This was in the middle of my 6 months with no RX. Welcome back to the gravy train Mr. Air, a little slice of heaven we call the SEA base.
But then when compared to ICT it is probably its own little Eden.

For those so far from the front line (R.E.M.F.s) its hard to see over the horizon. SEA isn't hard work, its a lot of work but those who chose it are rewarded with more than money. Did a checkride the other day with Mr. P. and he said the automation of the ATR has sanitized the run and basicly anyone can do it. At least the F keeps you humble and sharp. Hows the 10?

The 10 is more like the F, and the ATR I guess is more like the 11 (so I have been told). The 10 has a huge tail, and a state of the art 1968 avionics suite (lots of switches and dials). The 11 has a smaller tail, and an efis display. Amazing how you leave something, and find out its just more of the same.
I'll say it again, I just loved the F, and some nights it was hard, but I always felt glad it was my aircraft in SE. It kept me sharp and I had total faith in the old machines.
ATR's, and hair gel just don't seem to belong in S.E.

I couldn't agree with you more. The F is a honest machine that keeps you sharp and humble.

The word from whom?? You talking about the EVA or Thai a/c? Unless we get MD11 freighters the pax 11s will take a while to get converted. Unless we have a mass exodus I don't see hiring for the 10 until maybe May/June.
Of course I have been wrong in the past. We shall see..........
