Boeings brake apart in turbulence, too. Nice try though, the A380 is still a nice airplane.

You are missing my point. The specifics of the A330/300 tail separations are what i'm getting at. Any airplane can break up, duh. Boeings don't lose the ability to control the airplane requiring excessive rudder forces.
There's something wrong with the design, IMHO.

• Due to the current economic situation and our need to contain costs as much as we can to ensure the continued success of our Airline, you would be responsible for arranging and funding your own flights to Dubai to attend our selection process. We would provide you with hotel accommodation and meals whilst here as per your first assessment process

How weak is that?!!!!

O.K.-

Help me out. When is the last time a Boeing broke apart in turbulence? Come on, smartypants-give us a specific example.

BOAC and Mount Fuji - 富士山. Google it.

Ummm-

That was 40 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!

-Do you really think that counts? A 707, vs. a modern Airbus? How many generations of airliners were built in between? Apples vs. kumquats!

-707 vs. A-330-They do have some things in common: They were both made of metal, and they both burned jet fuel.....

-Wow!

How about the TWA 727 that exceeded it's max airspeed 3 times over and still held together.

Wow! crj567 knows how to count.

Why does it matter how long ago this happened? 707s flew until the early 80s with most legacy carriers. Why shouldn't it count? I keep reading how those old planes (727, 737, Douglas) were built rock-solid, blablabla. We're talking about structure here, right? Plus, take a look at the Air Force tanker fleet and tell me what those mil planes are based on, smartypants!

Trojan, you brought up a good point. I bet it makes quite a difference structually whether you exceed your airspeed in smooth air, or encouter violent turbulence. I bet the 727's tail was made quite a bit stronger due to #2 intake. Would be interesting to compare the tail structures or composition between the 727s and 737s.

Ok, you're a retard. Seek help immediately

(apologies to any retards offended by the above statement).

Ok smarty pants, when was the last time you flew either one of them?
For that matter, when was the last time you flew anything bigger than an rj?
Stick to the drive through Wendy's window!
And, hey kid, super size my order, your mom and sis are coming over!

I flew the 135 about four hours ago it worked pretty well. It was pretty turbulent and we did half a dozen touch & goes.

1991 - United B737 COS - rudder power control unit
1994 - US Airways B737-300 - rudder
1996 - Eastwind Airlines Boeing 737-200 - rudder- landed safely- same issue

I still prefer the Boeing.

Don't bad mouth the 727 that's one bad machine! One of the few planes I still will watch takeoff.

Had a neighbor in Miami when I was a kid, that worked for Eastern and flew the 727. He talk about how he loved to fly it and had me convinced it was a magic carpet. He smoked like a chimney and so did his plane. BAD ASS!

What? They're too cheap to even offer a space available ticket?

They can get 3rd world pilots now who've been on A320's and 737's since 200hrs. And they won't leave after three years or complain as much.. American's are not "competitive".

Are you saying US pilots are making more than the 3rd world Pilots? That's pretty COOL!!!!

!

... and it's not like their flights are that full. Have not been on one which was more than half full .... er, empty I mean.

Am kinda split on EK. I would like to fly the equipment & routes, but being stuck in artificial wonderland and only having 8 or 9 days off at base (DXB).

All FO's must now have jet experience on a multi-engine Jet with a MTOW of over 55 Tonne. Based on this new minimum criteria we will not be considering further candidates with experience on smaller aircraft types. This also means we will no longer be considering those candidates already in our hold pool who fall short of the new minimum experience criteria.

good, its about time. There is no subsitute for expereince.

Hi!

Spelling? It's 55 tonnes.

Emirates crappy? Just like EVERY OTHER AIRLINE ON EARTH! I just read a VERY long thread on Qatar, where I'm applying next, and about how Qatar is crap and Emirates is great, and 100x better than Qatar.

I also read someone's post that said Cathay was fantastic, and I had a guy I know spend a month telling me it was awful.

The only thing bad about Emirates (overall) is now I don't qualify anymore, and I've never even flown an RJ!

This message is hidden because Browntothebone is on your ignore list.

go to your CP or control panel settings, and look on the left side you will see "edit ignore list" click that and type his name. Then select OK

I really does make a great difference. I don't like suppressing differing opinions. I really want to listen to people I might not normally agree with.

Since 1997, I have stumbled on a very few such as hellonewman and BTTB, that contribute nothing. They are pot stirrers who post flame and then sit back with glee and watch the fireworks start.

They are that .5% that like to pull fire alarms. You can spot them at the back of the crowd masturbating.

That's what he meant Cliff. Hope life is good in the NBO.

Hi!

Yeah, but my point was, while he was chastising the guy for "hostitute", he screwed up on tons/tonnes.

English spelling is stupid, and it is an ability, not something that you can learn. You can improve your spelling, and your vertical jumping ability, but only to a certain point. If you want to jump a lot higher, or spell a lot better, you need different parents.

We don't tease people who are mentally retarded...they are doing the best they can. The same goes for spelling...it has NOTHING to do with IQ or how much you try to learn in school...you can spell, or you can't.

Note: Some of the best writers in America can't spell very well. This makes sense because writing has nothing to do with spelling. I'm lucky, in that I'm good in both, but I don't correct people's spelling (Unless they are on someone else's case!), for the same reason I don't tease people that are shorter than me...it's how they were born, not something they did or didn't do.

When you go to the supermarket to buy apples, you pick the best looking apples from the ones that are available to you and not because all the apples in the pile won't satisfy your hunger. Right now there are plenty of experienced pilots out there looking for jobs and remember that for these international gigs your competition comes from all over the world, not just here in the US. In the past two classes here there is nobody with RJ only experience and three years ago they hired DEC's here, in Vietnam airlines, In Asiana, In Edo Air and a handful of other places in the middle east and India. Like somebody said, supply and demand

Wrong!

You pick the apples who that are the youngest and greenest, because those other apples have been there forever and they have had their chance, dammit! It isn't the young little green apple's fault that the old apples haven't been picked... Those old ones probably didn't spend enough money becoming apples in the first place.

Why, you probably should pick oranges instead! I know they aren't apples, but they have been discriminated against by virtue of being oranges and not apples. Too say nothing of asperagus... Now that is a class of individual that should be catapulted to the top of the food chain, produce seniority be damned.

Any pilot can fly an airplane, but it takes a really good pilot to get out of flying an airplane.

I just finished a 14:24 two day trip and only had to fly one leg. DS and pay protected for the rest. Its easy to manipulate crew scheduling using the Jedi mind trick, when their last job was asking "do you want fries with that?"
