Sorry bud but at my old regional airline there were MORE then a few dangerous capytians on the line. I even had to take the plane from a capt one night on a windshear GA because he locked up. Put that in your pipe and smoke it G
Same here, except the guy I helped out was a Line Check Airman. Would I say he was dangerous? no. Would I say he was a bad pilot? no. Was I a "hero" or a "better pilot"? Probably not. I was however more current in the airplane and had better situational awareness at that moment. I was just doing my job.

The de-brief was two words - "Thank You." I never said another word about it.

I'm just tired of the pilot bashing on these boards.

Ok everyone focus on the topic..... Captains and Fos can suck just as much we all know that.

Do you think the high demand and low turn out will make the industry pay more and give better benefits to attract pilots?

the industry always ebbs and flows. hopefully the tide will stay in for a while. at least long enough for all of us b!tches to get jobs at mainline.

I remember something in our company manual saying the Captain is responsible for the professional development of the First Officers with whom he flies. Wouldn't that mean as a Captain, you should be teaching them, using your experience as a former FO and current Captain? I know I gave the nasty legs to my FO's just to give them the chance to shoot an approach to mins with, a max crosswind on a snow covered, 5300' runway at night. Yes, there is going to be a shortage of viable Captains when they hit ATP mins and the company "forces" them into the left seat. Stop bitching and use your old CFI skills to get them as up to speed as possible. Also, quit whining about how much you hate your job? Seriously..it's one of the easiest things a person can do for a living. If you wanted the big money, go back to school, get a finance degree, move to New York City, get a job at Goldman, do lines of coke to keep your ass awake for 4 years straight so you can make it to the VP level and get paid those nice big bonuses we read about in The Journal. Oh wait...airline pilots don't read The Journal or The Times, our information comes in color graphs and cute little articles from the USA Today. You know, the newspaper we pick up from the hotel and read at altitude..

And I'm sure management will sit back and watch as FO's do nothing but massage the gear lever and microphone button for a couple of years while they run out of captains.

They should change the name of this section from "Regionals" to "Sore and Bitter". Face it, new guys coming on line now are gonna have it better than any group in the last 10 to 15 years. Don't blame them for being lucky.
250 hours? Sore and bitter? You havent even had a real job yet. Go pop your pimples. I have more approaches logged than you have total time. I have been in the soup more than you have taxiied an airplane. You know nothing about everything. You think you are going to have it better? You better ask your mom if you can stay out late. You are entering an industry that has found a way to lower wages, benefits, pensions, and work rules while at the same time increasing time of work, work production, and lowering completely company and industry morale and some of the worst industry performance and service. You think CEO's and shareholders are going to give anything back? Why should they? There are plenty of FS geeks like you that think they are getting in the greatest industry since porn. Dork.

Thanks for proving my point about being bitter and sore. You should go put a band-aid on your mangina and take some pms meds...oh then go find something to do that makes you happy...Slap your wife, yell at your kids, kick your dog...Whatever it is that makes you happy...and get a new career if that will make you feel better.

The problem is all yours if you are stupid enough to work somewhere you don't think they are giving you your due. Sure, you can bag on my total time, but you are a sad example of a person selling himself out instead of getting what you think you deserve. Think about it.
