Once again scare tactics in the media...that being said is it really that big of a deal if a 737 or MD80 from DFW to LGA only has 15-20 minutes of extra fuel? Not really there are more than enough airports in the CONUS, will management possibly change their tune once a crew diverts and times out 300 miles from destination and they spend more money on the one flight in hotel rooms for PAX than they will save the entire year by reducing extra fuel by 15-45 miuntes...I would like to think so.
