Yes, that is correct. The ticket's by themselves might be $30 each way but either way it comes out to about $74 round-trip.

Mega's right, they are standby. We've used them a couple times this summer and have been able to get on all the flights we wanted. SWA even let us pre-board (we have youngsters so we could sit together) but told us if it got close they'd pull us off the plane. Worked for us. My wife was traveling on these stby tix earlier this yr and actually got pulled off the flight in ABQ but SWA was real helpful in trying to get her to where she wanted to go. We think it's worth the $$.

I know ATPcliff and Beetle are just asking questions so they can be informed. However I use to be a technician at Brown, now a corporate pilot(ignore profile i have not updated for a long time) doing everything I can to get back there and making a lot less money flying than i would wrenching for brown ( UPS techs average over 100K including overtime $45 per hour). To be worried about a frickn pass is so .......................................................WRONG. I will agree with atpcliff a average job now with family is worth more than the best job alone, stay true to your self. Congrats on those that are there, I envy you however , IF GOD wants you or me there we will be there if not be content where you are!

Hawker – I don’t think anyone is really “worrying” about a standby (didn't know that) pass on SWA or any other airline. They are just trying to know all the facts before making a decision to switch from passenger flying to cargo flying or maybe just for comparison purposes. You know, sort of like when you chose your mortgage company you want to know all the rates, extra fees, pro- and cons compared to another mortgage company.

I think it’s good to know as much as you can about the company you're interested in. Most airlines have some benefits for their employees; some have standby passes on other airlines, some discounts on shipping, some free passes for family members when flying on your own airline (passengers airlines only of course ). However, I seriously doubt anyone would ever decide whether to pursue an airline or not based on how good or bad those travel benefits are - but it’s always nice to know what’s out there.

As far as you – keep flying and keep applying! Hopefully you’re staying in touch with your previous supervisors, co-workers, etc. You’ll need their recommendations when you interview. HR folks usually do not like when people come by their offices asking about their friends who are trying to get hired. Having said that, if you could get one of your previous supervisors to write you a great letter, and better yet, maybe even show up with you at a job fair – you’d be golden. Of course, I assume you’ll have the minimums they are looking for – I don’t think they’d waive those for anyone…Good luck to you! You’ll get your old employee number when you come back here – and you will!

I said "Why?" He said "Well, FedEx doesn't really offer any pass benefits." And....he was NOT joking.

Other than jumpseating, can UPS ... Pilots (and family members) get any type of travel benefits on other airlines (i.e., ID90s or Zed Fares).

American Trans Air: $30.00 space available one way domestic travel and $60.00 space available round trip domestic travel; $100.00 space available round trip to Cancun, San Juan, and Grand Cayman; $100 space available round trip to Hawaii if booked through Phoenix. Each ticket will carry the new airline security fee ($2.50 per segment to a maximum of $10) along with a $6 processing fee. These fees are the responsibility of the passenger and will be included with each purchase. No blackout dates. Code-Share flights with Southwest are not eligible.

Cayman Airways: ID90 round trip space available from Orlando, Tampa, Miami or Houston. Authorization is issued at the carrier's discretion.
