The company management sent out a letter to pilots stating they will not respect pilot seniority when it comes to upgrade, they are upgrading whoever it is cheapest to them to find replacements for (145 FO's) and with no time table when this will stop or even pay protection for FO's who are passed up.. Senior FO's are being passed over for upgrade, and junior people to them are getting captain spots. THIS is no rumor or Joke, the letter is on the company website, the awards are out, with contract negotiations coming soon, things are going to get nasty.

You have to ask your self these questions:

DO you want to work for a company that doesnt respect your seniority?

DO you want to work for a company that does whatever is cheapest at the expense of its employees?

Do you want to work for a company that will fully violates a contract whenever it pleases, even with things as fundamental as seniority?

Do you want to work for a company that expects its grossly underpaid FO's and their family to bail them out of the problems they create?

If you answered no to any of these questions you need to apply somewhere else, with so many options these days, you dont need to put up with this. Please be sure to tell RAH why your no longer interested in working there (very important).

Well, Mr. CFI, the pilot group is the union. Not sure if you know exactly how all that works...

But anyways, this group is plenty strong and will stop nothing short of a strike if the company plans on following through with their bypass awards. Make no mistake about that.

Bypass isn't the only thing this company should be worried about. Not attacking but the FO rates on the 170 are pretty shabby.

Best of luck sticking it to them during neg...

Remember you guys need to set the bar as the only operator of the 170 in the US.

Can somebody post the letter? Just curious to see how exactly that is worded.

Well Mr. Avi8tor2000 Ive flown for 2 121 carriers so I think I have an idea of how the whole pilot group/union thing works, but Im sure you can enlighten me......So you're telling me that the teamsters union is going to get you an industry leading contract? flyslow24 is right, you guys need to set the bar high. I shouldn't get paid more than you do to fly a smaller jet....

Nothing has happened yet, nor will happen for a couple of weeks. If these guys end up going to class, then things will get ugly.

All of that is true. That stuff is not uncommon and is still better than the treatment at some other regionals. So, come to Rah.

Yes, this is what the company WANTS to do to help alleviate the staffing issues that Bedford admitted they misjudged. They're also going to pay protect those bypassed. So they are openly violating the contract but also adhering to the penalties specified in the contract. Of course if it does go through, it will still probably screw a decent amount of pilots so it's a fairly hot topic right now. It's an ongoing situation that is currently being addressed by the union reps. I don't know of anyone who wants to see it happen and the union definitely knows where we stand.

Sounds like RAH is taking ideas right out of the TSA mgt playbook. Happened here awhile ago - grieve it and in the end (2 years) there will be a major retro check coming.

Tear em up in negotiations...........

That Bedford is a real peach aint he. Didn't he fire a whole bunch of people out of seniority a few years ago? Sucks to be you.

Yeah....like the LAST TIME you guys really showed them! But hey...you are flying an E-Jet...not a REGIONAL JET!

The union should tell those that are out of seniority to not show up for upgrade class.

Its been discussed and advised that its not the best idea. If you are awarded a class and do not show up, you may be considered to have gone AWOL and may be let go after two days. If everyone takes away their bids for it, they may contrally displace qualified pilots 9in reverse seniority) into it. If there are no qualified people, they may hire street captains.

NO BYPASS, NO WAY! Let's see how much those stock options are worth when the doors get shut on this place for a while.

Dude people said "DONT WORK AT GOJETS!" and people still did it. You know there's always going to be a buuuuuuuuuuuuunch of people that cant wait to get the call back from CHQ.

when exactly is the contract up? i hope there is a pay raise in the near future.... i make more as a 1st year turboprop driver than any of the jets at republic! can you turn down chq or sa classes to get into republic??

CHQ is not even remotely close to Go JET - No comparison.

What they did will not be forgiven in this industry.

Oh boy here come the waterworks....wah wah wah wah :crying:

Guess what...ya'll will negotiate for a year or so, bitch and moan, maaaaaaaaaaaybe strike but i doubt anybody will show up and then settle for whatever the hell your shi*&y regional originally proposed. Keep that union strong fellas...ya'll are really making a change!

What did Go Jet do, vote in a contract with low wages and undercut the industry, well that would make me mad too if I worked at CHQ you guys probaly thought you were the best at doing that.

I seriously doubt that Chautauqua is the lowest bidder, sometimes its about a quality product. Only companies like United sell their soul for the cheapest s*** they can get, thats why the top 5 at United are splitting millions in bonuses as we speak.

And then all of the Chautauqua FOs will make more than you their second year. They will more than likely upgrade before you too, which makes first year pay a moot point. I'm not trying to hate on you, because I worked at Piedmont as well, but there is more to the big picture than first year pay. I'm not saying that I agree with the low wages that any of the regionals pay, but I wasn't willing to sit around at Piedmont waiting to upgrade for six years even if their first year pay is better than some of the other places. The contract is up in October, but negotiations are allowed to start in April. People have turned down class dates on one certificate to wait for another, but they say you may not receive another call if you turn down the first offer. I would guess that with the shortage of pilots at this company, they will give you what you want though.

And not trying to hate on you, but what happens when the growth stops? What about the FO's then?

i dont think the growth will stop any time soon, the continental flying will keep everyone busy for a while, and once the airline is better staffed, i wouldnt be surpised to see a little more delta flying, and when TSA, GoJet and mesa go under. Everyones going to pick up some United Flying. And who will get TSAs american connection flying, i think CHQ might be in a good postion for some STL growth. The company is hiring right now for their current understaffed situation, attrition and growth, so most FOs that are just coming online are in a pretty good spot. But it is the airline industry and everything can change in a minute. Just my 2 cents

The company management sent out a letter to pilots stating they will not respect pilot seniority when it comes to upgrade .

They called me today for an interview... I told them I was already flying MD-11 and would only consider the job if I could hold left seat on the 170 inside of 6 months.. they told me that it would be more like 2 years.. so I don't think they're bypassing anyone. But then I only am going by what one chick in HR told me.

If you get stuck as an FO at Chautauqua, you're still going to make more in the long run than being stuck as an FO at Piedmont. You're right, who knows when the growth will end? It's all a crapshoot.
