Wow that new pricing model works good! Lower the fares again Delta!

Delta's new fares not only hurt them, but CO as well!!
CO could lose $200 million due to Simplifares

CO expects to lose approximately $200 million in annual revenue due to Delta Air Lines' (DL) Simplifares pricing structure, the airline said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Wednesday.

This loss is $50 million higher than the high end of CO's previous estimates of the impact of Simplifares.

According to CO's filing, increased traffic due to the lower fares has not been enough to offset the lower ticket prices. In addition, operating results may be affected by even more than $200 million because of the expense of handling the increased traffic that comes with lower fares.

DL's Simplifares program lowered domestic fares significantly and also eliminated the Saturday-night stay requirement, permitting business travelers to now travel on cheap leisure fares.

Employees can read the SEC Form 8-K filing at www.sec.gov or on the continental.com Web site under "Investor Relations."

Looks like the sale of Comair or ASA is closer than most realize.

once again, the world according to general lee will state:

a substantial loss is not a real loss, but a paper loss, therefore, there is no loss!

Can't feel sorry for a company losing money when they won't raise their fares to match increased expenses. CAL is notorious for crying foul.

And Song is making boatloads of money. Int'l is making so much money, some were left on the table etc, etc.

It's all good!

CAL tried to raise fares 24 times last year. All were rescinded after NWA refused to follow suit. Although I would agree with your initial statement if it pertains to the entire industry and not just CAL alone.

I told GL a few weeks ago to quit mentioning over and over and over how Delta's cost reductions were going to save the day. When he does post on this thread, look for "the 2.1 billion in cost savings haven't kicked in yet." It doesn't work that way.
