how many hours do the 5 day and 3 day average?? this would be great for commuters! this might be an inexpensive way for DAL to limit the base movement/training/ and relocation costs. i hope the two MECs will address this with mgt.

On the 757, the 5 day trips run around 27-28 hours, and they're commutable on both ends.

What if you have weather or traffic delays? Sounds like you would need more reserves to be able to pick up trips going close to 30/7. I bet Wintertime delays for deicing etc can really take a toll on those high time trips......that can be good and bad....

The reserves do cover some 30/7 problems but generally the five day trips that NU is referencing have some trip hour credit built in so the trip might be worth 28 hours but block time is significantly less, maybe around 24 to 26.

BTW, how senior is the B757/767 and 767ER base in LAX? Would a 97 hire hold an FO position? What type of international flying is done from the LAX base? Thanks again.

Thanks ACL65 for the info. I can imagine that the schedules will change for the DL LAX based pilots on the B767. Probably, some westbound flying from HNL to KIX, NRT or NGO then down south from there. Good flying if you like Asia.

Many at NWA are commuters(esp. DTW) and consider anything less than a five day trip to be kind of a waste of time. Curious why Delta doesn't offer several domestic five trips in the B757 bid packet. Or do they? 30hr/7 days issues?

After 9/11 AA kneejerked and closed all TWA domicles (Oops, bases) except STL. Now that they had created all those commuters they threw us one crumb and made us some 4 day trips. The other bases wondered where all those 4 day trips came from!
