there is nothing stopping a operator based in the Czech Republic from launching flights between Germany and Spain

Could that Czech airline operate flights between Berlin to Köln?

Euro...

"Right, I don't live in a socialist country, neither are any EU nations currently led by a traditional socialist goverment. Closest you'll get is the "Social Democrats" in Sweden, "Labour" in the UK and "SPD" in Germany. Neither or those are even remotely close to embracing traditional Socialist values. The only people being "subsidised" by governments, and this by the way is not universal throughout the EU nor limited to nations with a centre/left government, are people who've been unemployeed for an extended period of time. Some nations, including Denmark which is currently under a conservative government, tie some money to their backs in order to get them out of welfare. It works, to an extent.

Your comment re. "Speaking of broke" leaves me somewhat flabbergasted. If you wish to compare national deficits, I don't think the US has much to brag about. Where I'm from, we've had a + on the balance sheet for the last 10+ years; primarily under a centre/left government (this may blow a bubble or two, but there you go)."

What I meant by the "socialist" comment was that we have to negotiate everything, all of it, every time. No government healthcare, vacation, retirement, etc. Don't get me wrong, I like it that way cause then the governement can't take it away. Heck we're doing our best to try and get more of our money back into our control. Anyway, that's for another discussion, but let me just say, I want yall's pay to go up, not the other way around. I firmly believe they could afford to pay you more. My cousin works for DHL in Brussels in Mngmt and she said they have some awsome parties. Times must not be too bad.

I'm no economist, so I'm not gonna get into the deficit issue. The broke I was refering to was the subsequent decrease in vacation mandated in France, and the contoversy over, wasn't it France and Germany, screwing the smaller countries in the EU by using illegal trade policies, per the EU rules. Also, although you all have some government provided benefits, I'll take our quality and service here any day. That's all.

You and heavy seem to be in a pretty good little thing on domestic and international, but while there are a few, and I do mean a few, remaining things states can do independently, that concept was over in 1865 with the War Between the States. The EU actually probably more closely resembles the voluntary confederacy of independent States we had before the war than we do now. Now we are basically a compulsory union of dependent states and with the exception of say regional cultural and social mores, legally, ultimately, we are Federally governed in almost every way. Wish it wasn't that way, but it is.

Here's to burying the hachet and higher wages for all. Raise a pint on me.

Saw Ted Mallory. August class is still planned. We're probably done till first part of the year though.

>Then why did DHL replace the Astar DC-8 with a Kalitta 747????? Reduced loads my a$$, it's strictly beacuse Kalitta is cheaper that Astar.<

Because, they are only reserving a portion of the aircraft. Why don't you just go back to playing Doom3, or whatever it is you do when your mommy lets you on the computer? Sorry guys. I couldn't resist. How many handles is Rhoid going to use, you think? Maybe we should start a pool.

Ah yes, good ole Captain Feathersword. Your posts are hilarious and clueless. I've seen your posts in other areas. Where did you learn to speak like that? Are you a real "pirate"? Keep sailing those seas my friend we certainly don't want you in an airplane. Lay off the booze and drugs and keep her steady, full ahead, port side or whatever.

Yes that is perfectly legal. Same as O'Leary's gang (Ryanair - EI register) is operating domestic flights in Italy and England.
