G4G5,

I think Micheal707767 just said the DFW chief pilot said the 737-200s, 737-300, 737G, and 767-200. That will be over 4 years, and apparently Fred Butrell of DCI said today in CVG that Delta was interested in the 100 seat market and new 100 seaters, but he did not say that DCI would get any of them. (Dalpa would NOT give that portion up, especially with furloughs on the street---and Delta and Butrell know that)

79%N1,

Even though I enjoy the banter between pilot groups sometimes on this board, I don't find any family being displaced funny at all. We all just want some stability in our lives, and home life is really important to everyone, especially with families. I hope you chose to do what is best for you and your family, and you are always welcome on any Delta jumpseat.

Reducing fleet complexity by retiring at least four fleet types in
four years and increasing overall fleet utilization and efficiency;

Aren't the 733 and the 73G the same fleet type. I know the 73G's came over from the Western purchase but are their really 737-300 steam gagues around?

I
No. At Delta we have the 737-300s, some of which I think have a crude FMS, but still with steam gauges. We also have the 737-300Gs (or at least thats what we call them), nine 737-300s we got from Germania, with a glass cockpit. They are flown as a seperate catagory. I think the announcement was for the media consumption, cause really, retiring the 732s, 733,s and 73Gs are all still one type of aircraft......the 737.

Last I heard the 90s are going to SLC, and the 762s will be retired. Keep in mind all this is going to happen over four years, it will not happen overnite. Related to the 762s, I heard that Delta has a track on some more 757s that are sitting in the desert somewhere. Could be some sort of trade. Or maybe they know they can sell the 762s, I know ABX operates them and may be looking for more.

I had worried about the 777s going away, but really, since he said they want to apply for China routes, I don't see that happening.

AA has some ex-TWA 757s with pratts sitting around......maybe in MCI.

A little slow!

OK, I am not the brightest crayon in the box, but I havent seen where ASA will be affected very much in DFW. Do the total number of flights decreased from DFW from 270 something to 20 something include ASA or DCI? We have known for some time that Delta was going to get rid of it's DFW hub and turn it into a "fly through" hub for mainline, and the new growth was going to stay with DCI. Has this changed? DFW has been very good for DCI as far as loads and profits. I have a hard time believing that they would get rid of DCI in DFW when it is profitable??? I guess you guys can educate me concerning this issue. Thanks!

There will be no DCI in DFW. All 21 flights will be mainline to SLC,CVG,ATL. DFW will be a run of the mill outstation like IAH. I'm surprised DL didn't at least keep DFW-MCO/FLL since DL is strong in Florida.

How do you know DCI is profitable in DFW? Remember, a full RJ doesn't necessarily equal a profit. How much in profits do you think DCI made slugging it out with CO,AMR and WN on a route like IAH-DFW(or DAL)?

Also, even if DCI was profitable in DFW (which I tend to doubt), what if those RJ's can make more money elsewhere? Wouldn't it be wise for DL to maximize its profits by putting RJ's on the most profitable routes possible?

An ASA Q&A memo stated that DL and ASA were both nonprofitable in DFW to the tune of a $900 million loss since 2001 I believe. I don't have it here as a reference though.

Mainline additions out of SLC

General Lee,

The SLC paper mentions new mainline flights out of SLC to such hotspots as Fayetteville and Little Rock, AR, and Wichita. Are these now covered out of the DFW hub? What might be the thinking with this? Why not add these out of ATL? Just wondering.
