Maybe you didn't know this (79%N1 does) but Buckhead is full of gays. And, most probably travel. So, since ATL is our major hub and there are many gays in Buckhead, it is probably good business to cater to that group as well. Since many do not have kids, they probably travel a lot, and we do fly nonstop to SFO and Key West from ATL. There you go.

General: I can claim some geographical expertise seeing has how I've worked in mid town most of my life. Gays found Buckhead way to hetero in the 80's. In the 90's Buckhead went college and now is Hip Hop. After making a mint on mid town real estate ( 10th to 14th street ), Decatur, and Candler Park the cutting edge of that culture went to Asheville, the Pacific Northwest and California. If Delta was into real estate trusts they would be making a smart move. However, we had better hope Delta's strategy is not to be the airline only serving 15% those who live within the 70 mile diameter of 285.

Most business professionals are conservative. Companies don't hire way out there folks to represent their products and services. Responsible Companies do not promote a sexual agenda. Delta's spending on this is plain stupid.

If DAL thinks they can fill up their seats with that demographic, more power to them, however I am one regular customer that will cancel out one new regular gay customer they gain. Net=0. When given the choice, I will never spend my travel money on Delta again.

I find this especially abhorent in a time they are already trying to weasel out of commitments they made to their employees. Perhaps the corporation's new character suggests that they are much more comfortable with making their employees bend over, hence the pursuit of the new demographic.

I also think they might swing both ways as they seem to want it both ways...supporting the Gay agenda while using the word "Pride" with out the prefix "Gay", and using code words like "diversity" which are well familiar to Gay groups but might otherwise deceive or be less confrontational to Bob and Edna in say... Cedar Rapids for example.

You go DAL!! But I think I am going to blow you off with my business...so to speak.

At least the AirTran promotion is tied to popular music and improved service. Sure Elton is gay, but there is less of an agenda there than paying for "Youth Pride" to talk to children about their sexuality. There is no way you could convince me that sponsoring a book tour to promote the "Secrets of Gay Porn Stars" is going to net much revenue for Delta. This is someone's pet project and has nothing to do with Delta's success as an airline.

Bottom line is that Delta has a part of its management culture that has a far left wing gay agenda and Delta too is poorly managed to effect adequate controls over its spending.

Delta does not have the luxury of wasting dollars on a few management employees alternate lifestyle choices while simultaneously telling Congress, creditors and employees that it can not pay its bills.

Any decent and well managed business would properly prioritize its spending - this is full proof that Delta is not being managed to survive - Delta's remaining assets are being stolen by those in the position to do so, Grinstein and Co is not stopping this from happening.

ALPA raised holy hell about previous management boondoggles, it is time to raise hell again.

Can't argue with what you said. Not to condone management's actions, but I speculate they don't want a public relations nightmare with the gay community and media. Probably are some people who have an agenda and perhaps overstate the gay community's buying power and influence to entice management to buy into it.
With that said, if it "fails" there are always the employees to go back and ask for concessions. To a company it is "easier" to fight that PR and media battle with their employees. Hope I'm wrong.
