At least the AirTran promotion is tied to popular music and improved service. Sure Elton is gay, but there is less of an agenda there than paying for "Youth Pride" to talk to children about their sexuality. There is no way you could convince me that sponsoring a book tour to promote the "Secrets of Gay Porn Stars" is going to net much revenue for Delta. This is someone's pet project and has nothing to do with Delta's success as an airline.

Bottom line is that Delta has a part of its management culture that has a far left wing gay agenda and Delta too is poorly managed to effect adequate controls over its spending.

Delta does not have the luxury of wasting dollars on a few management employees alternate lifestyle choices while simultaneously telling Congress, creditors and employees that it can not pay its bills.

Any decent and well managed business would properly prioritize its spending - this is full proof that Delta is not being managed to survive - Delta's remaining assets are being stolen by those in the position to do so, Grinstein and Co is not stopping this from happening.

ALPA raised holy hell about previous management boondoggles, it is time to raise hell again.

Can't argue with what you said. Not to condone management's actions, but I speculate they don't want a public relations nightmare with the gay community and media. Probably are some people who have an agenda and perhaps overstate the gay community's buying power and influence to entice management to buy into it.
With that said, if it "fails" there are always the employees to go back and ask for concessions. To a company it is "easier" to fight that PR and media battle with their employees. Hope I'm wrong.
