Gee, highest paying plane 15 upgrades out of 12000 pilots. Maybe the 777 CAs can someday make what a 15 year SWA CAs make. Doubtful, however.

Uhhhhhh, when one guy moves up, 8 move up behind him/her. That's what happens when you have multiple fleet types without pay banding. With 7500 retirements scheduled in the next decade, don't you think there would be tons of movement? Juany, you so crazy!

Right now, "it depends".

Current upgrades have been in the mid-8000 range, which is 15-17 years, depending on which side of the merger you came from.

Even if it dips down to 9000, that's still 13-15 years.

Wow! 15 years? I honestly thought upgrades were happening much sooner than that at Delta.

It's not 15 years from now. It's 15 year pilots that have already been at DL through the age 65 hike, stagnation after BK, etc. DL will retire 7500 pilots over the next ten years, so it's unlikely anyone hired now will have to wait that long. But, there are other options at the legacies too, like becoming senior in category and making more money as a senior Widebody FO and not having to sit reserve on a narrowbody left seat. There are many ways to make more money at a legacy, you just have to ask around. You can go into training, you can stay on a smaller plane and gather greenslips, etc. Plenty of options.

7500 pilots over the next 10 years, 50 seaters going to the sand, and 88 sweet 717's coming online. Faaaaaaaantastic!
