Delta Upgrade Times for a New Hire?

a better question would be how long would it take for a new hire to hold a line as a captain somewhere other than NYC. There is a reason NYC captain goes so junior........

New hires are being told 5-6 years, and with 5000 retirements coming, that's probably close. I'd guess 4-5 in NYC. Some bases are a lot more senior than others, like LAX, SLC, and SEA. But, recent expansion out there (especially SEA) will bring those specific averages (17+ years for West Coast Capt) down significantly, along with those 5000 retirements.
