Delta adding 'shuttle-like' service between NYC, Chicago
Beginning Feb. 15, Delta will start flying seven daily round-trip flights between New York LaGuardia and Chicago Midway. Delta's service to Midway will operate out of LaGuardia's Marine Air Terminal. In a press release, Delta says "the new flights between LaGuardia and Midway … replace current service between LaGuardia and O'Hare." The route will be operated by Delta Connection partner Shuttle America using 70-seat Embraer E-170 jets with six first-class seats and 64 in coach. Delta says the LaGuardia-Midway flights offer "customers a Delta Shuttle-like experience for travel between two of the nation's largest business markets."
Delta also will increase its New York JFK-Chicago O'Hare service to five daily round-trip flights, up from the current one. That route will be flown by Delta partner Comair on a combination of 50- and 70-seat regional jets. Bob Cortelyou, Delta's vice president for network planning, says that the airline's "expanded service between O'Hare and JFK will offer Chicago customers connecting opportunities to more than 30 international flights ... from Delta's New York hub, including non-stop service to Mumbai, India and new non-stop service to Accra, Ghana."
Funny how Delta follows wherever Jetblue goes out of JFK...
