Delta is waiting for the results of the buy out offer. Then they will determine the number of furloughs. They should start soon.
I don't think there's a Delta pilot on property right now worried about getting furloughed.

Another thing on the capacity reduction this Fall. If you look at the schedules, DL is putting a lot of A330-300s on Trans Atlantic stuff this Summer. That is a heck of a lot bigger than the normal 767-300ER that used to fly those routes. If you replaced those planes after labor day with 767ERs, wouldn't that mean a large CAPACITY reduction? What if you just moved those planes to fly Southern Routes during the South American Summer (and our Winter)? That would equal a CAPACITY REDUCTION for the FALL, by just switching planes around. This Summer DL has put A333s on ATL to BCN, DUB, and FCO, and JFK to ATH, BCN, and DTW to FCO (which is Seasonal). Add to that the ATL to Venice and Athens service that is always seasonal on the 767ER that always goes away after Labor Day, and there is the Capacity reduction. There will be some temporary parkings too (some 744s), but they will be getting new lie flat seats and new IFE systems, and that is a perfect time to do that.
Bye Bye--General Lee
Good old Delta and their capacity reductions. That's what they're known for there. Capacity reductions...and pay cuts...and furloughs...and farming out flying.
Don't you have anything better to do?
Probably. But same could be said for Genitals Lee. I wish you Delta guys had better things to do other than bring down the lifestyle of a commercial airline pilot. And then brag about how awesome you are.
He should be servicing his colonel.:blush:Don't you have anything better to do?
If you were getting on at Southwest as you claim you really would not be focusing on Delta now would you.
Your office must be real busy after that crash in Ventura. Is that why you're on the computer so much lately? The boss out of the office? You have to focus on Delta because their pilots are spineless and have been doing everything in their power to bring down this profession. 12 domestic codeshare partners, agreeing to have their contracts torn up, taking pay cuts...ect. All the while tool boxes like GL, OYS, and Scope tell us how great Song is and how bad SWA is. Meanwhile, SWA FOs make more than Song narrow body CAs, they are breaking RJ codeshares, hiring pilots, and getting better contracts every few years. Maybe Delta pilots could form a union and that would help them finally act like men instead of male stewardesses.

Well GL, you're right. Delta is a strong viable airline. Thanks for posting the talking points of your CEO who's main job (other than trying to plug leaks on a sinking ship) is to prop up the stock price and get suckers to buy it. Hopefully those suckers who held DAL stock right up to CH 11 either have short memories or haven't warned new investors to what a bad operation being run at Delta.
I'm sure Delta has a bright future. I'm sure their pilots will do ANYTHING mgt needs to bump up the stock price. I'll just take the General's word for it and ignore the constant bleeding of cash. You're right General, Delta is awesome. Hopefully the SWA pilot group can follow in your footsteps.
Come on people, do you honestly think the 747-400 is going to make it past summer 2012? They will be gone; history. 777's will do that job, some even being flown by Delta and most by codeshares (sad reality). The A-330 is not nearly as good as some people think it is. It cannot take a full load of passengers and cargo to any european destination; or back.
Delta always furloughs.... so if you think you are safe - then ask the A seat guys you fly with if they expected to be furloughed when they were in the 90's? Delta is going to pare back a huge amount of capacity starting September and close one base. Green slips are being handed out due to temporary shortages (i.e. - not worth hiring somebody and training them, just to furlough them). If you are on the bottom of the list - then at least be prepared! Nobody in MGT is going to tell you they will be furloughing - then sick calls go up!
The amount of misinformation (wishful thinking) on this board is amazing.

I'm sure the General thinks they will get a new contract soon with a 25% bump in pay. Reality check, not in this economy Gen, you're closer to furlough than any pay increase. Talk about a fantasy land! Pass me a sundae, I mean bourbon.

News Flash... This economy is about to fall off the cliff!
not in this economy? Dl should get a year over year profit this year, and had a monster year last year. We don't even start negotiations until the end of 2012. The economy is getting better, oil is coming down from all time highs, the stock market has rebounded. Are you getting your business news from the food network? And if southwest can pay the airtran guys your wages, then our airline can do the same. That is what is great about your deal, it helps us. Thanks for that. And with my seniority at about 50% of the list, i really don't think i would be furloughed. It would have to be a lot worse, and i mean a lot.
Now i do have a question for you. If you get bumped or displaced during the first joint bid after your arbitrated sli, and all you can hold at your new seniority is the 717 in the right seat, will you have to buy your type rating to fly it? You bought your first one, and maybe you are used to that. That could help southwest out, especially since they will have to fork over a bunch of new money to pay ty and lear 70. They could really use your $10k for that 717 type, or sic type for you. Just volunteer that money, i bet that would help keep that "culture" of yours intact. Enjoy the sli, it will be interesting, no doubt. I think you may be the one needing a few glasses of
