Comair was an extremely profitable airline before Delta purchased it.

Comair and ASA or any other regional are only profitable because they are guaranteed one through their contracts with their mainline partner. When that mainline partner also owns you...is it really a profit???

I want you to take $10 out of your right pocket and place it in your left pocket. Did you just make any money? NO!!!! A Comair profit is offset by a liability on Delta's books somewhere else.

How long do you think comair would have been profitable without partnering with DL? Just ask yourself that and consider ACA/Indy Air, and get back to us, know it all!

Comair did not have a fee per departure agreement before Delta bought them. They set their own prices and even sold their own tickets. They were extremely profitable.

Delta will always be in trouble. They suck, ASA sucks, Comair sucks, Skywest sucks and all associated with Delta sucks.

Anybody who thinks Delta is out of trouble has forgottenthe lessons of Pan Am. They are buiding a huge international route structure and raping their domestic feed to do it. CRJ's can't carry the bags for 50 passengers connecting to international flights. It is ridiculous. The funny thing is, their stock is now worth less than what USAir offered.

yep

The company is now valued at .5 million less than USair was willing to pay. The executives didn't want it because they wouldn't get "paid" ie. stock cash out since most would be removed during the merger. They will need a few months to take the cash out of the company that they transfered from the pilots and other employees during the "mock" bankruptcy.
100 seat scope is the next sellout...just watch

Pan Am never had feed. Delta has the best hub airport in the world in ATL, which has more passengers flying through it than any other airport. A lot of the 50 seat RJs are leaving in favor of the 76 seaters which can carry more revenue passengers connecting on those international flights, and more bags. And, ASA's bad press is allowing other regionals to come into ATL and try to offer a better product, which can only help. There are a lot more E170s and CR9s flying around which means a first class option for premium passengers. Delta is taking advantage of foreigners and their international capital, which is all higher than the dollar right now. People in Europe think Delta tickets are cheap, and Delta can charge more and fly mainly Europeans back and forth over the pond, and make more money than just taking Americans over and back. They are obviously focusing on money making routes, and if you need to compare the stock prices when high oil is hurting everyone, well, you just don't know what you are talking about. We all know USAir is a sorry place to be right now, and it will only get worse there, just ask any USAir pilot (east or west). Delta has held steady in the same range of market price since the stock came out (around $19 a share), while others have gone down. Future profits will advance that price upward most likely.

Actually it was Shuttle America (E-170) that received the highest customer satisfaction/performance out of the entire system, including mainline.

Congrats!

You shuttle america guys must rock! You have like 10 planes to keep up with and stuff. Maybe you can come teach us how not to suck since you have done such a great job managing your vast fleet!
