Honestly though, unless I am wrong, tower gave braking action for the other runway, but not theirs. Looking at the pictures the runway was obviously contaminated.

Maybe these guys should be limited to airports with weather above circling mins and I think there probably needs to be an evaluator pilot at the controls anytime they are going to a field that has anything worse than a dry runway. This would be a good start until they can have a serious discussion about the flippant safety culture and retrain the problem children.

Wow, what a wind tunnel this thread has become!

Could the anti-skid or locked wheel protection have failed? Could an out of rig engine cable have caused a reverser not to deploy, or an engine not to unspool to idle? Could the nosewheel steering have malfunctioned? Could there have been a latent fault that prevented spoiler extension? Could they have just forked it up?

Who the hell knows!?

Call the NTSB. They can go home now - the keyboard commission has it all wrapped up.
