The Delta jet base was never close to getting hit. They landed on 9L (no hydraulics, mx capped the wrong line) and rolled off the left side of the runway about 1200ft from the end. In order to hit the jet base they would have had to cross two roads, take out the postal facility that used to be there, cross another road and the mechanics parking lot.
