A SLC MD Captain told me that most all of guys on the MD88 in SLC will swap over to the A320 vs. commuting to MSP. The A320 will be a good fit for SLC and I think it's better duty than flying the MD88/90.

Whatever happens, less 50 seat RJs and more mainline jets is always good. And speaking of 50-seat RJs, what a piece of crap!!! Passengers hate it, mainline pilots hate it, but at least it's almost always weight restricted.

I agree, and I also think the MD90 will be a good fit in MSP. It can hit both coasts from there, and many MSP guys will like it since it is an upgrade from the DC9 in pay and avionics. I hope DL uses the A319s again to Montanta from SLC, and dumps the RJs. They could fly MSP--MSO-and then onto SLC, returning mainline service finally. They could do that for FCA, BIL, and GTF too probably.

85% on NYC commutes. I would assume 85% of the current NYC 777 pilots would simply chase the plane to DTW. A few might bid NYC 765.

A lesser percentage of ATL 765 pilots (the ones without Real Housewives of Atlanta) will chase the plane to NYC.

I'll wager the A330 in ATL will go very senior -- open to both N and S. A lot of ATL guys will be disappointed.

330 will more than likely not be on this bid as we do not have SIM time for that much training.

Went thru re-qual recently and there was talk NWA picked up a A-330 sim somewhere and it was being refurbished.

CAL can only train like 30% of pilots in house.
Everything else is outsourced and held together by dozens of contracts with all sorts of school houses that could be canceled almost overnight.
Very safe and leaves a lot of room for execs to close the doors and bailout with millions if things go south.

I hope Delta will not go that route. Buy assets!

So, what will replace the current 765 flying? If they fly nightly from ATL to MAD or to MUC, then something will replace it, either the 767ERs from JFK the 765s are replacing, or something else like A330s.

Only 1/2 the fleet is being considered as moving to JFK. Think of it as taking the LAX 765 and now putting in NYC. 10 of 21 jets The rest is/will be done by fly thru 330 crews.

Hey Gen, want to go in on a DTW crashpad. :smash:

Okay, then where will the ERs go from JFK, that are being replaced by 765s? Could it be.......wait for it.....SEA? They have to be going somewhere unless we are parking them. When will CVG ER go away? (they don't really have any planes there anyway, since they DH to and from almost every trip)

And, I think I will still comfortably hold ATL on the ER. I could have been relatively senior on the 765 here in ATL, but I like the ER and it's variety. Thanks though.

Funny thing is that most of that 765 flying already being done up there. I am sure you will see flying or pairing do some other stuff, but from the sounds of it, no SEA ER base this bid. That should be in AUG.

I know where you sit, just giving you a hard time.

Yeah, I guess you are right. I know the 765 has a couple flights to LHR from JFK, and DTW and MSP are on 765s also from LHR I believe. That sure will cut down on Roosevelt layovers. Thanks for the info.

Lets just see what plans they actually pull the triggers on. If it is anything close to this, ATL will get real senior.
