Delta International Jumpseat

I have never attempted to jumpseat before on an international flight. I am going from atl to uvf (st lucia) and then back. How does the process work? I am a continental pilot.

The way i understand it is that you pay the taxes at the ticket counter and you just show up to the gate. Can you physically occupy the jump going from the US to another country? Can you physically occupy the jump on the return trip? Any help would be appreciated.

I jump seated on Am Eagle back in 2003 from San Juan to ST. Marteen. It was just like jumpseating state side. I had to show the cutomer service agents my passport and ID. I will say it didn't seem like they had dealt with it too much and it took a couple of people and an extra 20 minutes to make it happen. I didn't pay anything extra and there were seats in the back so I don't know about riding in the actual jumpseat. Call your jumpseat coord., seems like he should know the answer. Good luck.

If your company reciprocates, check in at the Delta international ticket counter at least 75 minutes before departure. Bring your passport and your 2 digit airline code. Have a nice trip.

Folks,

The 75-min rule at DL is VERY important. You must make sure you are listed as a j/seater no later the 75 min window, otherwise they will NOT take you. I was trying to get to Barcelona Spain in Oct.. checked in at the ticket counter (outside security) 4 HOURS early! However, the agent never bothered to list me as a jumpseater, he listed me as a non-rev. (DL has a separate list for j/s and non rev.) So when I showed up at the gate - inside of 75mins - the agents told me that I was not listed as a j/s, and it's too late now because you're inside the 75min window. "You are the weakest link, goodbye."

So, to recap -

List as a jumpseater no later than 75 mins - not as a non-rev!

I've taken Delta a few times to Europe and Latin America:

It's like this:
Yes, be listed 75 mins prior as a jumpseater. (double check they did it right by going to a costumer service centre inside the airport.)

They should charge you your taxes (about $35 to Europe)

Ask to be listed for the return trip as well (pay taxes), that way you get sort of a ticket to show at the airport on the return (Helps a lot in Italy).
Then show up at the gate prior to 75 mins just to double check that thery did it right. (Even after telling them, I've encountered my name on the wrong list)
If noone at the gate, go to another gate that is not bussy and ask them politely to check.


That's it
Delta has taken me in in a nice leather seat to Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Paris, Costa Rica and more....

You are not allowed to jumpseat in the cockpit on international flights (even if you are cass...)

We have an agreement with Delta but don't fly internationally. Will they allow us to jump over to Europe?

I agree, Delta is absolutely fabulous to jumpseat on when going int'l... I've always been given BusinessElite and they treat us real, real nice.. a class act. Thanks for the rides!

How many J/Seater Does Delta take? 2 pilots trying to get to Central America here. If I fly into ATL from other places, do we have to go out of the security to get listed as a j/s? I appreciate your help.

DL has a nice service desk at the E (Intl) terminal. They'll list you for the J/S and you can pay your taxes there. Then head over to the gate to make sure they know you are listed 75mins before.
Get a couple of Starbucks for the gate and the purser, they'll sit you in Bizfirst

Delta just started taking unlimited jumpseaters, domestic and int'l. And no, you don't have to go out of security at ATL, the international desk is in the "E" terminal in the center atrium near the food court.

By the way...has something changed that you pay taxes to Europe? I've always had them waived jumpseating there, only paid taxes coming back.
