Heard from my US Airways guard buddy tonight that he was denied jumpseat tonight (7/14) out of PNS by a Delta Capt. It's just getting more pathetic day by day in this business.

Did he give a reason?

In another news flash - a US Airways Flight Attendant refused to give a Delta jump seater a whole can of Coke on his trip to work Wednesday.

I suggest a jump seat/whole can of Coke war.

There are two sides to every story. Spill the beans.

Actually there are three. The truth usually lies somewhere in the middle of the other "two sides".

The only person that did anything wrong was the DAL cap. The US Pilot was escorted down the jetway by the DAL agent. The agent handed the US guy's ID to the MD-80 Capt and he flat out said "no." They never talked or anything. You tell me where's the "other story" there. Everybody should stop this nonsense. It's highly unprofessional and uncalled for.

How come all these stories start out with "I heard from a friend..." Almost never do you hear "I was denied". Tell your buddy to call ALPA jumpseat coordinator with date and flight number or call professional standards. This was done wasn't it? Or did you just run to the nearest computer to put it on Flightinfo.comj?

One possible scenario: DAL capt. is busy, running behind, and knows his plane will be just below MTOW. In fact, he's in the process of communicating to rampers to offload a few bags to get him below. Weather's bad, so an alternate is required. Therefore, fuel load is higher than normal, and offloading is not an option. Captain feels bad for being so curt, but is too busy to offer an explanation.

Anyone else wanna throw in a possibility?

Is there a standing beef between DAL and USA?

Instead of flaming me, why don't you ask yourself why these stupid jumpseat denials happen in the first place? Tell that to the Jetblue guys that get denied on UAL, NWA, and yes DAL. FWIW, you're welcome on my jumpseat anytime. And yes ALPA has been notified.

The only thing I can think of is the fact that US Airways is still alive. Sadly a lot of my fellow peers wish my company would die thinking that would save their own job.

Enough
CA could have been giving/getting a line check or have a new FO on an OE ... as an example.

Your "buddy" always has the option to inform ALPA and his CPO ... and have them look into to it ... vs starting a "he said / I heard" J/S war that nobody wins.

I heard from my best friends sister's girlfrield's step brother that Ferris passed out at 31 Flavor's last night. They say he needs a new kidney.

Reserving comment on The Donger or any post in this thread except the portion of the one quoted above...

If this edict were applied to every poster on this message board, it would dry up and blow away without even so much as a trace.;) :p

Well they must have gotten a lot of those spam emails about PNS enhancement pills since they are in the process of lengthening them now. An extra 1-2 thousand feet within 6 months!

Hey..USAir pilot should have come over to AIRTRAN. I would have gladly given him a jumpseat. I know were pretty full out of PNS. Im a commuter and I understand how it is getting to and from work. Oh and by the way Delta pilots out of JAX have been most gracious in the jumpseat. Most appreciative.....

Maybe he didn't have enough O2 for an additional crew member.
