At least that was a calm rational response without more attacks.

First, who have I "claimed" to be? I've only said who I'm not, and those of you who still think I'm WF, then I guess the joke's on you. Maybe someday, you'll learn the identity of JP, but it probably won't matter. Ever seen the Wizard of Oz?

Most know who you are.

As for supporting my reps, absolutely. Right up until they make public statements like "the majority of pilots are too stupid to know what's good for them", which a new MEC member recently said.

Actually, he was parroting back something you said to him when you first met him and you were trying to school him on YOUR view of most pilots.

You may feel free to challenge them and hold them accountable in your own special way. I'll choose mine.

And so you should! Just don't undermine the process because you have personal vendettas. However, it appears that they have more honor than you as they are not trying to publicly lynch (figuratively) you.

This isn't about what "John Pennekamp" wants and thinks he's not getting his way. It's about (in the words of the same MEC rep) "60% of the pilots want to settle". That IS a majority, one I'm part of, and the reps aren't listening.

As someone else said, no one knows that. I have not voted and neither have you. In addition, as you well know, the person that you are supposedly quoting would not know,as he is just getting his feet wet. The process is not complete. When it is, you and I will get to vote. My guess is that the pilots will then have the voice, as they should, and it may not pass. By the way, contrary to your popular belief, besides QOL issues, money is important to everyone. Inflation is eroding my earning power and we are about to see the inflation rate double.

So if what I'm doing here is putting pressure on them, then good. I hope they at least listen, and I hope I've encouraged others they've never heard from to speak up. And attend the meeting on Thursday.

You are not putting pressure on anyone. There are probably 10 people that post on this board. The others, most who aren't on your seniority list, are looking for entertainment.

Everyone that is off should attend the meeting anyway. IT IS OUR UNION, by the way! It is our contract!

How much longer can negotiations take? September will be 5 years. What does it take to get released?
I keep lurking the regional board to read some positive news at ASA, which of course is non-existent.
I may have left but I still feel a kinship to the pilots and hope that this gets resolved soon. Cheers- rum

Seriously....

I do believe everyone should be heard. The best way to make these guys accountable is to voice your concerns at the meeting. Seriously-I encourage everyone who can to go and BE VOCAL.

I do believe there are a few of these guys who have their heads in the sand.
I have heard all the excuses:
"The company does all this every time we go through new negotiations...."
"No more jets for jobs"
'We're just doing what the majority says we should do....."

Well these guys are possibly listening to the majority, possibly not. The only way to know for sure is to go and be seen and heard.

The one thing I know is true about these negotiations is that none of the previous ones took 5 yrs...... I think our guys are partly to blame-especially the 2+ years that we totally blew out our butts on that "interest-based bargaining." Everyone is now sick to death of the process.

Go, make yourselves known, and maybe we will see something come from all this... Should be an interesting meeting...

Explain the "go and be seen and heard." Where have you been for the last 4 years? It's about time that you are seen and heard--by the other party at the table.

You are correct. However, we were not a wholly owned subsidiary and the whole industry was not upside down. Interest based bargaining was a waste of time, but apparently it is now part of the process and is somewhat required.

Go, make yourselves known, and maybe we will see something come from all this... Should be an interesting meeting...

I have a suggestion. Why don't you hold the company accountable???

By the way, just to stick to the theme of the thread, we will not be going to DFW. The yields there are still low and AA owns the turf.

we were discussing the may (2005) ASA -700 lines

haha..thanks. I don't know why these certain people hijack every thread that even remotely relates to ASA. All they do is bash each other personally. Seems like they just copy and paste on each thread because it is the same thing over and over and over.

I agree- no DFW for Delta or Delta Connection. Our presents wouldn't make sense without any mainline stuff out there anyway. Aren't we around primarily for feed anyway? Without Delta we only feed ourselves, and the 50 isn't efficient enough to do that and make it profitable anyway. I could see the possibility or Orlando though. Why would Delta pull Comair out of there only to leave Freedom the only game in town down there?

As for holding the company accountable- I hold both parties accountable. Nobody ever answers to why we want the 5 years of retro when WE dragged our feet for two of them. Besides, most of the management team that drug out the negotiations has been s^&tcanned anyway. We punish BL and tank the company- he retires with the mad bank and sits on a boat/plays golf more often without ever having to work again. It would only punish us- moving to another regional that will pay you LESS than you are making now with the same problems.
