ASA FFD contract will have a five year reset on Oct of this year. It is correct to state that DAL will determine the pay it offers SKW, and it is at their option to take it. Performace also come in to play here. Remember that not being in the bottom two starts a clock as well.

As for the airframes, that is going forward as I understand it. The 70/76 market is maxed unless there is a concession or we get a lot of jets.

This will be a continual pull down yoy. (That is unless a new ceo comes in and changes the direction)

Or unless your contract negotiations start up again. This is just RA's way of playing one side against the other-regionals vs. mainline..... Right now he is your pal, but once contract proposals start flying, you will see the regionals getting pumped up again, because you are suddenly SOOOOO EXPENSIVE!

-Genius! (This happens again, and again, and somehow everyone is SOOO surprised.)

it's amazing we haven't all been graced by the General and heard his all-knowing explanation.

must be his week sucking farts out of the seats for AC in heavy check. (he volunteers)

You actually made me laugh, Sky!!! You are still a tool, but at least you made a great post!

-(P.S.-If RA gave a rat about fuel savings, he would be replacing 50s with some kind of turboprops.... His game is all about playing "us" against "them.)

It's funny how these FLIGHTINFO PILOTS can only think in terms of SHINY AND LARGE SHINY, et cetera without giving any thought whatsoever to the way that the system works. 50 seat airplanes work LIKE CRAP in ANY appropriate markets. In those same markets the larger aircraft would JUST TELL PADUCAH TO PISS OFF.

The larger small aircraft (THE "9") fill a niche as well. Their crews HAVE far SPIKEYER HAIR than the legacy pilots and generally HANG THEIR RAYBANS FROM THEIR EPULATES VS. the 50 seater. So what's killing the 50 seaters? GOTTA BE THE UND GRADS and theIR FLIGHT TEAMS.

As far as the 50 seaters being profitable, if they were at all profitable, WE WOULD ALL BE WATCHING "FLYGIRLS" ON OUR IFE FROM NEW YORK TO LA. They just aren't as BAD A$$ as the larger a/c.[/

Sorry I just couldn't resist...I'm sure RA has a FAR better understanding of RASM and CASM then they teach at UND "BECOME AN AIRLINE CEO 101."

Sure RA has probably lost more money than we'll ever be able to comprehend. So even with his vastly superior understanding he still can't fine tune the fleet into profitability.

The easiest way to make a million is to start with a billion and buy an airline. Those that don't learn their leason go on to buy another airline.

For what it is worth it looks like all the 70 seaters will soon be 65 seaters. The paper work has sarted appearing in files. 5 less seats for non-reving !@#$.

CRJ, he is the CEO no more no less. It is nice when our goals align. Nuf said.

As for the 50 eat jets. It is their philosophy that running 50's or 70's all day in to cities like BHM makes no sense. Put six md-88's on it. Not my words by the way. It makes sense and that is what you are going to see them do. There is a place for the 50 seater, but it is to cities like CSH, BQK, and the like where there is no competition.

What you are seeing is the tip of the iceberg in regard to the 50 seat pull down. It is a liability for DAL and the only reason they are not parking all of them is that they owe money to the FFD airline and the lease company either way, they might as well use em. If oil goes back up to North of 120, they will be gone as quick as they can park em.

And who feeds the ATL hub? ASA's 49 700/900's? Wait, 40 year old DC9's from GPT-ATL? Great idea!

1 PAID for DC9 = 124 seats and burns 3-4k lbs an hour.

2 CRJ-200's = 100 seats (if no weight restrictions-unlikely) and burns 3-3.5k lbs an hour

The shift will be back to mainline aircraft and like ACL said, less frequency but with the same number of seats.

btw the DC9s that will be around going forward arent 40 years old, they're around 30 and still going strong ;)

The DC9 is reliable, parts are cheap and Delta can do what it wants with the plane without worry of lease payments. It can be flown as much or as little as they see fit.
