Been offered a a job flying a Mirage all part 91 flying almost no weekend or holiday flying. Flying 3 days a week, no overnights. at 40,000 a year with medical, paid extra if you fly more than 3 days. I like the schedule is the pay about average flying in the southeast?

Sounds low to me looking at your experience. I would look in the 60 range. I know it is a mirage but single pilot corporate is real work. Keep in mind you will probably be dispatcher, scheduler, and baggage handler.

60K, are you putting me on  , no weekend flying, plus health care, if people do pay that kind of money for a Mirage pilot, why go to a regional or anything else.

I agree. Sounds pretty good for a single piston 3 day a week position.

Its more pay than most of the p135 402/navajo drivers in S. Fla. and in fact if probably more that most first year 135 jet co-pilot salaries.

Get ready

get ready to chit. CA PC12 driver making over 239k. And the boat rarely flies. No BS. Sometimes its just a matter of luck.

Sounds good if all you're gonna do is fly single-engine all your life. The Navajo and Seminole time isn't very impressive, which is why the commuters attract so many low-timers. (ME turbine into busy airports, and the possibility for upgrade).

Also great if you have a new wife/kid that you want to spend time at home with. That shouldn't be under-appreciated.

Yeah, this is great if you're taking a hiatus from your career advancement. 40K isn't a bad salary for this. (60 is better). If you're looking to advance your career, then you need to look for something more fruitful. Sounds like a great retirement job, though!

I ALMOST have to cry "Bravo Sierra" on that one. Maybe $23,900, but I would have to see it to believe it.

I get to move back home Not the best resume builder but it has the turbine conversion plus it will give me time to finish my degree so for me it works out well. Currently flying night freight in a van I'm looking forward to not being a vampire anymore I do like my current company but have to go with the better schedule and slighty higher pay

Mirage pilot

It really depends on where in the southeast you are flying out of. Monroe, AL or Ft. Lauderdale. Assuming you're not in the the southern Florida area it sounds about right. If you have other irons in the fire and you're not looking to fly bigger planes then this sounds great if you just like to fly. If you're looking to advance in aviation, with your total time, I'd walk or push for more like 60K.

Speaking from experience, the Mirage can be a great airplane and performs signifcantly better then most light twins, each carrying two pax.

pay /location

Its in NW Florida, I hope I didn't sell myself short on salary 40,000 for flying 2-3 days a week at most plus medical I thought was fair I can always ask for a raise later. they are thinking about upgrade to a PC -12 or VLJ.

I took a doctor gig a few years ago flying a BE-36TC FIKI for 50K/year. Very similar sounding job... flying 3-4 days a week , a few overnights a month but no weekends/hollidays. If your having fun and are getting a good QOL go for it. I wouldnt worry about the career advancement thing...You will build loads of skill being earlier mentioned dispatcher, pilot, baggage, line guy, sometimes mechanic, cleaner, etc.(not to mention IFR) that can transfer well to a corp dept. with your time people shouldnt be worried if you can "fly" or not.

I got a buddy flying a Lear who makes over 150k. And, he gets a nice bonus on top of that. The jobs are out there. Keep the faith! You never know what's around the corner.

I fly the GV and the 850XP as Capt and I don't make anywhere close to approaching that much cash. I'd quit tomorrow and move myself for that job!

I'd go ahead and take it. But, I'd also plan on asking for more after year one. Bust your ass, and make it seem like he's getting a steal even if he pays you more.

I'd take that Mirage job. 40K a year for that equipment in the southeast is a good deal. You'll live pretty comfortably on that.

239K a year to fly a PC-12? Wow. Of course, in CA, with cost of living, 239K a year is kind of like 120K a year anywhere else. Lots of what I consider a 'good' salary depends totally on where you live. I've lived in AL, and 40K a year goes a long way there. If the QOL is as high as you're thinking it's gonna be, and they're giving good bennies, I'd take it in a second. Best of luck to you!

uh yeah right, and the other plane is a G5. C'mon man, that doesn't make sense. just sayin!

+1

This tale should begin with, "Once upon a time in an enchanted land, there was a handsome and noble Pilatus pilot who was paid more than the King..."
